  • Today I will have completed my first week on 4:3. Surprisingly it wasn’t all that bad. I would say though that doing days in a row is quite tough (I did Monday/Tuesday and doing today) but when it came to yesterday I went to the gym and felt okay. I did eat quite a lot yesterday but working out always makes me hungry. I am doing 4:3 for 4 weeks and I will be interested to see what difference it makes to my result when I weigh in at the end of the month.

Has anybody else done this and found it has helped increase their weight loss πŸ™‚

Hey JFitzy, I think we’ve spoken on a different thread but I’m also doing 4:3 this week. To be honest I don’t think I’ll do it unless I’m really looking to kick up my weight loss because of the consecutive days (and fasting on Friday Sat or Sunday is a no go for me). I don’t think it’ll be a regular thing for me. I found Monday and Tuesday back to back harder than if I’d only done two days but it hasn’t been that bad. I am also fasting today. Good luck and let me know how it affects your weight loss at the end of the month compared to when you were on 5:2 in Jan.

    Hi LittleDragon

I will keep you updated. I agree with you that 2 consecutive days is tough but as you say it will be interesting to see what the results will be at the end of thism month! Are you also only going to weigh monthly? I have been very single minded (for a change :)) and keep stopping the urge to jump on the scales when I go to the bathroom in the morning (ha ha sad isn’t it!)

    Hi JFitzy

The 2 days wasn’t as tough as I thought it was, but given the choice, I would rather split my fasts out throughout the week! Do keep me updated on your weight loss at the end of your month of doing 4:3 though, I’ll be interested to see if there’s been a big difference. If it’s increased your weight loss a lot maybe I’ll do a 4:3 fast throughout March – we will see!

I was considering only doing a weigh-in every month, the only reason being because I am obsessed with weighing myself, and I get too thrown off by staying the same or a gain. If I weigh myself per month then at least it tracks the overall picture of weight loss. But then again I don’t know whether I’ll even be able to resist hopping on the scales!!

Go on you can do it! Think about the great surprise you will get at the end of the month and if you make it a Friday you can treat yourself that weekend πŸ™‚

Haha, thanks JFitzy, I don’t know, I might do, I do want to lose a significant amount of weight by May so if it helps kick the weight loss up a notch then I will consider it. I might alternate between 5:2 and 4:3. We will see!

Hey JFitzy, how are you getting on?

I’ve now completed my fourth week of fasting and dropped a total of 8 pounds. I’m really pleased with this but was also hoping for a little boost of weight loss as I did 4:3 this week.

I found the 3rd fast yesterday quite tough – it was fine until lunch then around 5 I started feeling absolutely awful, it was similar to the first ever fast I did. Shaky, and weak and I had to have a cuppa soup (50 cal) to stabalise. That evening, even though I’d had a cottage pie and felt full and satisfied I couldn’t stop thinking about chocolate…! I was OBSESSING over all the food I wanted to eat.

Maybe next time 4:3 will be easier but I don’t think I’ll be in a hurry to do it again.

I will weigh myself again over the weekend to see if any more weight comes off, but then that’s it for a bit… I have decided to hold off jumping on the scales every day! I am going to weigh myself either fortnightly or every 4 weeks – haven’t decided yet.

Do let me know how you get on – look forward to reading about your progress! Happy weekend!

    Hiya!

I’m also just about to complete my first week of 4:3, I’m doing this until the end of feb at least. I’d love you to keep me updated on how it goes for you πŸ™‚

Hi Rachel – let us know how it goes and good luck!

How long have you been on the Fast Diet? What progress have you seen so far? I’ll be interested to see whether 4:3 increases your weight loss significantly compared to 5:2.

    Speak soon and happy fasting!

    Hiya LittleDragon

I started 5:2 at the end of october last year & In two months I lost a stone going from 10 stone to 9 stone just in time for christmas. I’m 5ft 2 so I was really chuffed.

I would have liked to continue over christmas but It wasn’t going to happen, not with a treat table full of goodies in the lounge. My weight had crept up to 9 stone 7 at the start of this week though and so I’m back to it. I decided on 4:3 for february just to get me back to bearing the fasting days, it’s also a bit of a punishment to myself for starting a month later than I should have. I’ll let you know how much I’ve lost this week after this fast day! and I’ll compare a month on 4:3 to a month on 5:2 πŸ™‚

Well done on your weight loss – that’s amazing. I really hope that I can shift a stone in two months like you did. I am also 5 foot 2 and so I’m sure you agree with me when I say that my weight gain is so noticeable because I’m short!

I did the 5:2 last summer but even though I had the best intentions, I didn’t really commit to it fully enough, and I gave up after a month or so because of my changing work commitments. So I wasn’t as good as I could have been on non-fasting days and my weight loss was around 1 pound per week.

This time I’m being a lot better, and watching what I eat on non-fast days – I don’t count calories, but I have a rough idea of how much I’m eating – I always ask myself whether I really *need* what I’m about to eat – today I could have had chips for lunch (and the old me would have done!) but decided against it and had a healthy chicken wrap instead.

My initial goal was to be down a stone before May (I was 11 stone 3 when I started the Fast Diet), but given that I’ve lost over half a stone in 4 weeks, I think it’s realistic to reconsider this goal. I think I’d like to be around 9 and a half stone by May. I’d be really happy with that. Despite an 8 pound drop, I still feel really chubby.

Christmas is such a difficult time to stick to fasting, so don’t worry too much about that – and I’m sure the 7 pounds will come off in no time!

How much more are you looking to lose may I ask?

Good luck and happy fasting – do let me know how you get on!

Sounds like we are quite similar haha!
I’d like to get down to between 8 stone & 8 stone 6 before the end of June. Simply because I carry almost all my extra weight on my legs and unfortunately I think it will be the last to go. Most ridiculous bit is that my whole reason for wanting to lose weight off my legs isn’t even because I want to look skinny etcetc, I just can’t take another summer of chafing! hahaha. I have weighed in at 9 stone 3 this morning after my first week of 4:3 so that is a 4ib loss, something which is great but I also know will not happen again! Felling motivated πŸ˜€

hi, hope its ok to join you?
ive been switching between 4 3 and 5 2, for a good while now and find it really works well, i find with 5 2 i over eat to much between fast days and refuse to count cals every day so my weight loss can be quite slow, 4 3 gives me the freedom i need and i still see good results, i dont eat as much on non fast days either, double bonus. hope my stats will help motivate you.
    15 months of fasting, 5 2 and 4 3.
    48.25lbs lost to date.

    Hi LittleDragon

Sorry I didn’t reply sooner but I was not online at all yesterday!

Well done on your 8lbs that is fantastic. I think I will continue with the 4:3 for the next three weeks and then go back to 5:2 as it is tough. Also I think I have overeaten on my non fast days because I didn’t plan those days as well so I might have done some damage (ha ha) but I have done a couple of serious gym sessions. I am all organised for this week though and have my meals planned.

Hope you are having a great weekend – speak next week πŸ™‚

Sorry I have only just seen this reply!

Like you I was good with the gym this week – went running once before work and did an hour at the gym on Saturday and Sunday.

Good luck this week – I am holding out for lunch for as long as possible.. the hunger pangs have subsided for now……! Taking advantage of that! x
