  • Hi all, well like most people Ive tried lots of diets, but I have found them so restrictive I am never able to stick to them. So I watched Michael Mosley’s program and was extremely inspired. I lost my 52 year old sister a few weeks back to cancer and as a result have decided to take check of my own life (I’m just 49) starting with a a health check today I am a stone over weight and my cholesterol was fairly high. Like most I really feel inspired to read success stories which really do help to spur me on.Although I still find it hard to believe I can eat normally tomorrow. My friends husband has lost three stone on this diet he looks amazing so I am hoping to get some fantastic results too. (should be fun with Christmas around the corner)

Welcome to the forum. I’m very sorry to hear about your sister.

Good on you that you have decided to change your life style and that you try to become a healthier person.

One misconception though is that eating “normal” on non-fast days means you can eat as much as you want. This is not true! You can eat what you want but you’ll have to stay under your TDEE on non fast days or you can easily undo your efforts from the fast days!

What really helped me on my journey was to cut out unnecessary calories in form of drinks such as Coke. I am a water and tea total now. Also introducing some sort of exercise will help you lose even faster. A daily walk works wonders!

I have started my journey in November 2013 and I have reached my goal weight a couple months ago. Maintenance is pretty easy for me. I do not obsess about 1 kg up and down but I’m watching my overall trend.

My new goal is now fitness. I turned from being a coach potato to now training for a marathon in 2015, when I will be turning 50. I have done a couple of smaller races already and the thrill that I get out of finishing those is unbeatable. Considering that about a year ago I was unable to run more than 100 m this is unbelievable.

Anyhow, enough of me. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and I’m sure if you follow the guidelines you will see success.

    Hi Stef
thanks for taking the time to comment on my post. I have found your post really useful as I was given the impression you can eat what you want on non fast days. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem to me as I am not a massive eater my downfall is wine I think thats where most of my calories come from.

Well done on reaching your goal and well done on the Marathon too what a great goal to have. I’ve started bootcamp twice a week so hopefully that will help me along. Thanks again for inspiring me

    Sandy

Sandy, I hear you loud and clearly…I loved my wine! Unfortunately, it has quite a few calories so cutting down is really helpful!

Great that you joined a boot camp! That will get you going.

    Best of luck
    Stef.
