Feel so mad at myself ;-(

  • I’m so angry with myself, today is a none fast day and it was going really well, I had a sensible lunch and plenty of water but tonight I went out with friends and had no dinner sorted so I called at the chip shop on the way home and had sausage and chips ;-( why do I do this to myself? It’s like I have a self sabotage button in my mind.

    Gutted is an under statement.

    Welcome to the ‘I am only human’ club! Forgive yourself, forget it and carry on as normal tomorrow. It may not even register on the scales.

    Stop, take a deep breath, relax.

    While it is great to eat really healthy eating some chips and a sausage for dinner is not a crime. In fact with the 5:2 diet it is totally allowed. Sure health wise you wouldn’t want to have that for dinner every night but as an occassional dinner there is nothing at all wrong with that.
    Don’t try to make this into a DIET diet.

    Your two fast days a week cut your weekly calories back dramatically which allows you to relax a bit on the other five days of the week. If you try to be strict with yourself for five days of the week and super strict for two days you are going to get yourself all stressed out and over this way of eating in no time flat. The concept behind this is that you can live a normal life five days a week and normal living includes chips and sausage.

    As far as I can see you had a pretty darned good day overall.
    Nothing to see here folks, move along now.

    Yeah don’t be so hard on yourself, everyone has done it at one time or another. Just pick another day, no probs! 🙂

    Thank you all for your kind messages, I guess I need to retrain my brain into realising this is a WOL not a diet.

    Today is a new day, weighed myself and it didn’t do any damage in fact I’ve lost another pound so since Friday 31st Jan I’ve lost 7Ibs!! So I guess the occasional treat won’t hurt.

    Gosh 7lbs in 5 days is pretty amazing! Obviously your dinner last night didn’t do any damage. As the others have said this is not a diet it is way of life and you can eat what you want on your non fast days, including chips, as long as you are sensible. I started on 6 January and have had loads of nights out, wine etc and had lost 8.5lbs by Friday 31 January and was thrilled with that as at no time did I feel deprived.

    The basis of the 5:2 is that you can live a “normal” life and it should fit in with your lifestyle not the other way around.

    Keep going you are doing great and good luck 🙂
