  • We have been using the 5:2 Fasting for our Chemotherapy treatment, but in a couple of weeks it is necessary to start on Radiation.

Can you tell me if there is any indication or trials which has found that fasting also assists with the benefits of radiation.

    Hi brandie:

I believe there is some evidence that prolonged fasting (not 5:2) helps with radiation.

I suggest you and your doctor contact Dr. Valter Longo and his team. They are very responsive, and I have found them very helpful with questions. You can get contact information here: http://gero.usc.edu/faculty/longo/

Thank you simcoeluv I will be in contact with the link you have supplied and enquire further.

    Hi brandie:

This Dr. Longo video – an interview by another research doctor, so detailed – covers fasting and cancer. I don’t know if you know of Dr. Longo, but if you do not, you should probably watch this (and your doctor, too) so you have an idea of how and why prolonged fasting combined with re-feeding works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6PyyatqJSE

I wish you all the best!
