  • Checking in from Massachusetts, USA. Started the 5:2 yesterday with a FD. Was easier than I thought but I was definitely hungry for most of the day. Breakfast in the morning and dinner at about 7pm. Ended the day at about 570 calories. My kids had to endure the hangry me for a bit but I am sure that will subside as I move through this.

I am 47 years old, male, and my doctor had recommended this book last week. Either this or weight loss surgery, which I am not willing to consider because I like to eat too much. One day I woke up and was 320lbs (ok obviously it did nto happen overnight) and I am determined to get back to around 240ish. Not ideal weight for 5’10” by any means but way more healthy than where I am now. Never been skinny, and never will be, just want to be healthy again.

I did lose 5lbs on the first FD. I now some of it will be put back on over the next two days of eating but I also know that I will not be binge eating. What I am eating today tastes sooo good after a FD!

One day at a time in all things my friend; glad to see another guy working towards better health and a better life. I am 5″10 also and working hard to reverse damage that I “woke up to”.At 47 you can really turn things around, I am 62! I am one of the quiet less visible guys checking in daily on the March Challenge. Take care and best wishes.

@august2024 , thanks and I will check out the guy forum. Also doing the March challenge, more for some accountability then anything else.

    Hi PC:

You will have to be diligent and patient to lose 80 pounds. You should plan on it taking about a year and a half on 5:2.

    Here are some tips: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

@simcoeluv I would be very happy if I could do that in a year and a half. I had lost 60lbs in 12 weeks about 6 years ago doing a biggest loser type fitness challenge at a gym. Unfortunately it was all back on within a year so I would much rather do it slowly this time. Thanks for the link.
