caculating calories

  • hi, i stubbled into this site today and very much interested..i am starting tomorrow but i dont know how to calculate the amount of calories intake..i usually dont eat canned or packaged food..i leave in a community where rice dominates..how do i know the exact quantity of rice and bread to eat?

    The easiest way is find calorie counters on the internet which will tell you how many calories are in a gram of various food stuffs. Then you weigh out your food carefully so for example raw, white long grain rice has 365 calories for 100grams (or 3.65 calories per gram). On fast days females need to stick to 500 calories for the day (men = 600 calories). Hope this helps.
