  • I have been exercising for years and have always had a stable weight. However, my weight has suddenly increased by 10 lbs in the last 3 months, and this has never happened before.

I am already exercising for about 1.5 hours daily. I did make some changes to my diet during this time, but they were more towards a healthier diet that includes more proteins now.

So was that decision wrong or do I need to make suitable changes in my exercise also?

Everything that happens has a cause. Weight gain is a result of more coming in than going out (at least in my case through my lifetime) If you have changed your diet then that should be the reason. You are taking in more calories than you are expending.
We all want to NOT believe that when weight goes up, but we have to face the science.
Only YOU will know where an imbalance has happened, good luck, Liam

I’m constantly trying to balance these things and not to forget that limiting calories alone will not always achieve the desired result

Increasing your protein intake alone should not lead to weight gain as long as your total caloric intake remains within the normal range. It’s possible that your new diet, although healthy, contains more calories than you burn.

I do remember reading that excess proteins can turn into carbs which can turn to a negative outcome such as weight gain. If you’re taking in an excessive amount of protein that may be what’s happening. I suggest you do lots of research. Good luck!

First of all, I’d suggest focusing on your nutrition. Exercise is great, but doing an excess amount of it (which 1.5h daily would be considered so!) doesn’t let your muscles recover and absorb necessary nutrients from the food. Here’s a nicely-put guide on dieting which you can follow: https://listonic.com/meal-plans/en/complete-meal-plan-for-dieting

    Good luck!
