  • Hi everyone, just joined the forum so thought I’d introduce myself. I’m 32 and started 5:2 when the documentary came out, I did really well but due to a bad relationship breakup I havnt been 5:2ing for just over two years. Just didn’t feel I had the strength to do it, during those two years I put on nearly two stone. I am very pleased to say that today has been my first fast day and feel I’m starting to take back control of my eating again 🙂

I’m just starting today after a 2-year break and lots of gain too. How did your first day go? I’m at 4pm and just logged on here to get me through until dinnertime!

It’s strange as I have seen a few people that have had 2 year break for various reasons. How did your fast day go? Mine went alot better than I expected! Another as fast tomorrow, feeling very positive about it 🙂

My first fast day went pretty well. I was hungry and eyeing up the treats my colleagues were eating at work but I managed to resist, and I didn’t feel shaky or anything like I often do between meals when I’m not fasting. I think it’s because I’m not eating lots of sugary stuff that raises my blood sugar then sends it crashing down. Let me know how your fast day went today.

Congrats 🙂 That’s great you got through it ok. Its strange as I felt worse Weds morning when I could eat, might be the same reason you do on non fast days. Today has been a breeze so far, had bit of headache most of day but apart from that all good! Have a tomato and cheese pasta bake thingy waiting for me for later, with a rather large salad!

Hello all, I too am returning to 5:2 after life got in the way for a few years. I’m starting my fast on Monday. I know I have to make this a lifestyle and get out of the diet mind set. If I go on and off it like before, I’ll get the same results as before: all the weight gained back.

Hi, congrats for getting back to it, hope your first fast back goes well, mine went surprisingly better than I thought it would, I seem to be in the right mend set now as you mentioned, good luck for Monday 🙂

Thank you rv865. I’m actually looking forward to Monday and getting back to fasting! I’m glad your fasting day went well. I’m planning out a menu of filling, high protein 600 calorie total food. I lost well the last time using 600 calories instead of the suggested 500. I’m doing Monday and Tuesday back to back to get them over with for the week!

That’s great you found it worked for you at 600 calories, 100 more calories is always good! How is your back to back fast going? I fasted yesterday and will do again Thursday, I have never done a back to back fast, not brave enough!

Hello, I started 5-2 last February and lost 2 stone, so pleased with myself and got a little complacent and gained 7 lb since the beginning of November.
However I’m back in the saddle so to speak and have now completed 3 fasts this month, I stepped on the scales this morning to find I’m back to where I was last November very happy with this result……now to lose the rest which is about 15lb.
If I look at where a healthy weight should be then I am aiming for the higher end of the scale, I can then decide if I want to lose any more.

One step at a time though

i see all these posts were Early January, the traditional post Christmas time of cutting down. Did you guys manage to stick to it? I am going back to fasting after about 8 months of not doing it, and the weight piled back on…..

    Hi Timothy,
I’ve managed to keep at it with a few breaks for illness and holiday (I’m on holiday now!). Lost just over a stone so far. Good luck getting back to it and let me know how it goes. I think after the first couple weeks you will get used to it again. 🙂
