  • Day 10 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – FD

Thanks for adding me to the pocket list, @ merryapple.
I’m having a kak week 😠 Will be back tomorrow, if I can find a gadget that actually works properly. Thanks, @brightonbelle 🤯

    Day 10 – Rural Nebraska, USA – WFD – 153.8

I’m dumbfounded at my weight this morning, as I ate FAR too much yesterday. So much for yesterday’s weight motivating me to discipline, so that makes me doubly thankful. I’m at a standstill with my tax work (waiting for a corrected W-2 which may not come in time, requiring me to file an extension 😠) and not yet able to move forward with the paperwork our banker needs. And I keep thinking about what work I need to accomplish today in the church office–and then remember that the new office secretary is trained and doing the job now. So I have little to do, even though I have a ton that needs doing, LOL–very, very odd feeling!

So I’m taking my car in for some work; don’t remember what, but DH says I need to. Cars are the one thing I leave entirely to him and don’t understand at all! 😂 It’s quite lovely just driving it and leaving the details alone.

@funshipfreddie Are you in the hospital again?????

Okay, I’m off; have a grand one, everyone!

Day 10, SE England, FD (unplanned)….

Ate too much last night so decided to “undo” it today with a FD that I hadn’t planned on. Need to reign in the NFDs so this doesn’t happen. Not where I want to be and exactly this that stopped me doing 5:2 a few yrs ago. Determined to get it on track, knowing the benefits of FDs are more far reaching than just the weight loss.

Stress contributes to eating all the food, need to look at that also.

IT issues from here – sympathising with you @funshipfreddie – my ctrl key has stopped working so no keyboard shortcuts for me, I’m now operating my laptop like a young person….

    It’s nearly Friday….

    Day 10 NE England CD

Doing ok this week – after the trauma of going to A&E in an ambulance with my daughter on Monday. She has some kind of virus attacking her inner ear and has been quite ill. Quite scary with a toddler to look after when she is over an hours drive away for us. Hopefully the medication hospital prescribed will help soon.
Hoping to get a good number on the scale before Easter! 🐣

    Day 11 NZ NFD 69.4kg🔻 🏃🏼‍♀️

I had a woosh!! I’m so pleased to be in the 60s again!!
It’s all about consistency, resolve and restraint which are qualities I defo struggle with…!!!

I think Kak is 💩 isn’t it @funshipfreddie?? I believe in the cycle of life… ecosystems etc The circle always turns thus you will come out of your kak💪
@stitchincarol Time to do something fun then!!
@iona72 That sounds awful for your daughter. Has she lost her balance? I hope she recovers quickly…
@anicecupoftea Great that you are rebalancing with an extra FD. You will get those NFDs under control with practice. I do think planning your days’s food in advance helps with both having a balanced diet with favourite foods. Stress eating ting does dissipate as we get better at managing what we eat… Resolving our individual stressors is a different matter, however… Remember!! We’re all here for you!!
    Have a good Friyay!! It’s @penz ‘s🍕🍷evening
I’m off to do the morning walkup the ⛰️

    Day 11 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

    Fri-yay!

Scales stubborn, I did lose that 2oz but still need to push into that next figure in the downward journey. It will be so.
I have done 16:8 all week, getting used now to not having breakfast, as I said before, it’s not a natural state for me, but handling it well.

@iona72 I hope your daughter recovers soon. How awful for you all. Hugs

@merryapple well done on the whoosh. Don’t you just love when that happens ☺️

Spectacular weather in Ireland the past couple of weeks, and the spring growth has been amazing. My tomatoes are really getting bigger every day. Blossom everywhere. Birds singing their little hearts out at 5.30 am as we move into the golden hour at dawn. Wonderful fresh smells in the air. Love this time of year.

    Have a great day.

    Day 11, NFD, Aus

Hello all – just checking in. NOT P&RW night for us tonight, as we’re having a rare date night at a bar/restaurant in town. Looking forward to it! Pizza tomorrow night instead…

sorry, no time to catch up on everyone’s news and the weekend is just looking hectic-er!

Day 11, SE England, FD (b2b)

Said I wouldn’t do another b2b week, but here I am – will take your advice onboard @merryapple and plan the nfd’s better / in advance. Determined to be 5lb down by the end of the month but need to do that in a balanced way.

It’s Fri-yay as @daffodil2010 says, cannot wait for the w/e

lots of housework and garden work planned – to start the week all nice and tidy

enjoy the sunshine if you have it 🌞🌞🌞

    Day 11 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 239 lbs. Got a lunch with the boss today.

    Day 11 UK CD

Happy with completing 4 f800 days , but probably can’t manage another today

    Happy Friday all

    Day 11 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD, perhaps OMAD – 152.4

Another delightful number, and the first time I’ve hit 152-something since I was headed up and seemed incapable of stopping the rise. That was back when @northgeorgia had our race to hit a certain number first, and neither of us ever did. Months ago, I was hopeful of being at 132 by Easter, and then I was hoping for 140 by Easter. Now I’m doubtful I’ll even hit 149-something by Easter, but I’m so delighted to be going down that I’m content–thrilled, really.

@iona72 Oh, that must have been awful when your daughter had to go to the ER; how is she now?

@merryapple Congrats on the whoosh, and thanks for the reminder; @funshipfreddie has used and explained that before, but I didn’t remember until you explained.

@daffodil2010 I wonder if giving up breakfast is key to your success now, because you would do well with your meals before, but not make the progress you were wanting? Whatever it is, I’m full of joy for you!

@penz Enjoy your date night! Is it a special occasion, or did you simply feel like it?

@anicecupoftea I’m also planning on yard work today since it’ll be lovely weather, and I still don’t have the paperwork I need to finish taxes; it’s entirely possible you’ve already finished your yardwork for the day (it’s 3:15 your time, 9:15 mine), but I’ll still think of you as I work. What are your chores? My list is mostly cleaning up last fall’s dead stuff and the never-ending leaves, raking it out and bagging it up.

I bought a skirt 3 or 4 years ago and have never worn it, first because I didn’t have a top that worked color-wise, and then because I’d gained too much weight and I couldn’t zip it up. Yesterday, I took it in to my favorite clothing store and found a top that matches the blues in it and a 3/4 sleeve sweater to match the cream background of it, so now I have an Easter outfit AND I get to wear this skirt finally. There’s still a little girl in me that thinks I need a new Easter dress every year, LOL!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    USA. Day 11. FD

I have been the exact same weight for the last three weeks. I will have to jig my diet up to get moving again.

    Pocket List 🌷
    @anicecupoftea
    @ccco

Iona72, I hope your daughter is alright now. That would be scary.

Merryapple, a whosh! I am jealous!

Daffodil2010, I envy your weather. I planted my vegetables but they haven’t come up yet. I even bought a small home greenhouse to keep the rabbits away but our weather seems to have turned back to winter! 🤨. Anyway, I am sure that you will have some weigh movement soon. I am right there with you, as I seem to have a similar problem myself.

ANiceCupofTea, good luck with your B2B.

Hope everyone is having a nice day!

    Day 12, NFD, Aus

Nice night out for us. The city is extending the tram/light rail network (at vast expense) and the downtown area is a construction zone. I feel for the local businesses and it’s nigh impossible to find a car park, and many old pedestrian routes are now closed off. So we decided to visit a place we’ve not been to before to a. check it out and b. support a local business in these tricky times. I must be getting old because I found it too noisy and the barstools too uncomfortable!! 🙂

Yay for the woosh, @merryapple. I am not at all envious, because you’ve put in the effort and deserve to be rewarded.

    Day 12 NZ NFD 70.3kg🔺🏃🏼‍♀️

Up again 👀 but I did have a day of eating high fibre vegetables and fruit so it’s unsurprisingly. I have to hold my course and 🤞I’ll drop again…
@penz and @ccco Thank you!!!!!!! Hem hem… There’s always tomorrow!!
Our downtown is a total mess because at long last they’re digging in a subway… It’s a painful several years for everyone.
@stitchincarol I loved hearing about your Easter outfit!! You’ll be looking v smart!!
@anicecupoftea I am also about to do some serious housework 🙁but agreed, it will feel great when finished!!

    Have great weekend everyone!!

    Day 12 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD

Greetings everyone! I’m back! This has NOT been the best week. It started on Monday when I took my laundry to ‘Fresh’. Even as I was carrying the bag to my car I was thinking it felt lighter than usual. Then when I got there I realised – I hadn’t actually emptied my laundry basket. All I’d done was throw my bedding + a couple of towels into a bag. So virtually all my laundry was still at home 🤦 Things just went downhill from there When I got home, my Chromebook wouldn’t switch on. I’ve got a really cheap laptop too, which I hate, because it’s Windows. I dusted it off, but I couldn’t get that to connect to the wifi. And trying to get either of the gadgets fixed has been a mission, so I ended up just buying a new Chromebook. No more Whiskas for Boo Boo this month 😿

Remember Gate-Gate? Well, Judge Judy, our maintenance/admin manager has now declared… ‘Canopy-Gate’!😱 I got an email from her a couple of days ago, stating – “during a recent survey of cottages & canopy structures, it was noted that a canopy structure was installed on the exterior of your unit…” Well, she calls it a ‘canopy’, I call it an awning. I installed it over 6 months ago! I had to remove the old one. It was rusty & hideous, & it inhibited the opening/closing of my new security gate. According to Judy, I didn’t get permission, it doesn’t conform with the type & style of canopy within the complex, & will therefore need to be removed. I haven’t even bothered to reply. The chairperson of our body corporate (who’s also a line-dancer) complimented me on the awning shortly after I had it installed, so she obviously doesn’t have a problem with it. Also, another cottage at the other end of the village has EXACTLY THE SAME awning as mine! And they installed theirs two years ago. I’m hoping Judge Judy is going to feel very foolish when she finds out 😀

@merryapple – I was just going to congratulate you for your whoosh, drat! 😅

    @iona72 – wishing your daughter a full & speedy recovery 🙏

@stitchincarol – I hadn’t realised ‘kak’ is a South African-ism. It’s one of those words you hear a lot! Especially when people are talking about politics, or the general state of the economy, etc. But yes, @merryapple is right. ‘”Kak is a vulgar & slang word in South African English, primarily used to refer to faeces or rubbish”.

    @brightonbelle – congrats on another 4 x FD800s!💪

Have a good weekend everyone 🌤🌈

    Day 12-No. VA USA-FD800
I have lost a pound so far this month, but the downward trend is verrrry slow, but I know what to do. And it isn’t eating toast for dinner.
@funshipfreddie, we all knew something troubling must have happened to you since we hadn’t heard anything for a while. Technology is so aggravating sometimes. But how nice to have a new Chromebook. Boo-Boo will have to catch some bugs for snacks this month. Also, “homeowner’s associations” as they are known here are the devil! Very snoopy and arbitrary, a real power-trip for some of the board members, it seems.
@ccco, I am impressed that you have planted some vegetables, although I know some like the cool weather. I have mostly been surveying the garden trying to decide which weeds I can label “ground cover” and do nothing about. They are very luxuriant this year!

    Day 12 UK NFD

Off for a lovely long walk across the South Downs and our reward when we get to Lewes is a lovely Thai meal

Slow and steady is the way @excelsior12309

I knew she was plotting and just biding her time @funshipfreddie – I look forward to further updates 😀

Sorry your night out didn’t live up to expectations- @penz I think it may be an age thing We rarely go out in an evening now I much prefer a late lunch / early evening thing

Have a good day all see you tomorrow

    Day 12 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 238 lbs. Got a couple of pieces of bad news in email yesterday; one is a minor setback regarding budget at work, but I think we can figure it out. The other was a rejection email from grad school. So, I’m working on applying to another college. I just hate that at the doctorate level, these are typically done as cohorts in the U.S., which means waiting 3/4 of a year for a response. This college I am applying to will be more of a six-month wait instead of nine. A little more costly, but not by much — and there is an option to take one class online at a time (although the classes are just 7 weeks in length, so still pretty accelerated). Anyway, just a few slots open per year, but the format really does appeal to me.

@stitchincarol Little steps, and don’t give up, I think is our mantra 🙂 Even when things are blowing up. I’m up half a pound on average over last week, but I’m down a whole pound today over last Saturday. I will continue to moderate my choices on NFDs to make my FDs more effective. There are things that are unlikely, “no thanks, I’m only eating carrots on Easter,” but there a lot more things that can be done, “no, I don’t need that soft drink. Just some water, and maybe I’ll have a piece of fruit later.”

Day 12 – Rural Nebraska, USA – OMAD

We had lovely food at the restaurant last night, and even managed to order little enough that I was under 1100 calories for the meal, and that includes wine; I love when restaurants include calorie counts for their dishes. The restaurant’s most famous dish is Bang Bang Shrimp; is that a dish you’ve all heard of? There are recipes all over the internet for it, and I always wonder if it truly came from Bonefish Grill, the restaurant we were at. Regardless, it’s glorious. We each had a crab cake–also glorious–and split a bowl of corn chowder with lump crab…it was good, no more. My side salad was a shaved brussels sprouts salad and also glorious. I decided not to do OMAD yesterday, but had a tuna sandwich for lunch and worked two hard hours in my perennial bed; it looks far better, and I was glowing in virtuous pride the rest of the day, LOL. Today is horribly windy so I’m staying inside and turning up the music to drown out the wind “sweeping down the plain”! (Recognize the “Oklahoma!” reference?)

Oh, @funshipfreddie, such frustrations. I fully understand how, a-hem, KAK your week has been! That’s probably not a word I’ll add into my daily vocabularly, but it sounds absolutely spot-on to describe the week you’ve had. And Judy Judy is indeed going to have egg on her face, isn’t she? She seems determined to single you out!

@excelsior12309 Yeah, I was gobsmacked that @daffodil2010 actually has thriving tomatoes already, and startled that @ccco also has stuff planted. I won’t be planting anything at our current house since we’re moving in late May, but our frost date isn’t until May 13 anyway, so there’s very little that can safely be planted until then. It’s driving me bats that it’s been almost three weeks since I’ve seen the yard of the house we’re buying; I want to watch the plants come up, and figure out what all is there! And I vote for luxuriant ground cover; that’s a grand approach!

@brightonbelle DH and I used to roll our eyes (privately, but with high humor) at his parents when they started eating their evening meal at 4 or 4:30. And now we like that approach! Thinking back, we’re the same age as when his parents changed to that schedule, so apparently it’s a body thing, that changes as we age? At any rate, I chuckled when I read your words; we got to the restaurant last night at 5pm, which is when all the old people get to restaurants, LOL!

@northgeorgia This is the first you’ve talked about grad school! What a huge decision! What will your degree be? Good luck with getting into this second school you’ve applied to!

Today is the Easter Egg hunt put on at our church. We have approximately 35 or 40 member children, but the Easter Egg hunt has 300-400 children show up from all around, and there are 4,000-5,000 eggs for them! The family who started it still does all the preparation, and they spend many, many, many hours preparing everything. It is so very fun to watch the kids’ excitement!

I’m still waiting for the necessary paperwork to finish tax work; if I don’t get it by Monday, I’ll have to file an extension on Tuesday. I’ll be so very thankful when all this paperwork brouhaha is completed!

    Have a grand one, everyone!

    Day 13 NE England

Thanks for all your good wishes, my daughter is improving but still not 100%, she will try and get more medication tomorrow. Apparently it may take up to 6 weeks to fully recover.
I’m plodding along, trying to make good choices but the scale is stuck!

    Day 13, NFD, Aus

So glad you are sticking to your guns @funshipfreddie, but I do look forward to the next installment of canopy-gate. Echoing Excelsior12309’s comments, I’m reminded of a friend’s name for her apartment complex’ managing strata agency. She calls them “the cult”!

I had to laugh at your decision to call a weed a ground cover @exelsior12309. A weed, after all (well at least in my books), is simply any plant that grows where you don’t want it.

Oh I must have painted a bad picture, @brightonbelle! We v much enjoyed our night out – but just won’t return!

Sorry to hear about the turn-down @northgeorgia, but v excited that you’re looking to do doctorate work. Can I ask what your chosen field/topic will be once you’re accepted? Could you study remotely to an overseas university? (Just thinking that with the Aussie dollar being what it is, you might find a really cheap doctorate program in Australia!)

@stitchincarol – would it be possible to negotiate with the vendor early access to your new garden?

So lovely catching up with visiting family today. My 11yo nephew is now taller than me!!

Day 13 – South Africa Emoji – FD

@excelsior12309 – I’m loving the new Chromebook. And it was so easy to set up! Apart from the files, as soon as it recognised my Google account, everything is exactly the same as it was with my broken Chromebook, e.g. apps, bookmarks etc. As for Judge Judy, she really does seem to be on a power trip. Our trustees all seem to be okay & are very approachable. But Judy is another story, when she’s actually in her office. She seems to think she’s self-employed. In theory she has no power whatsoever, because she doesn’t live here, & isn’t a member of the body corporate. I find it odd that she doesn’t copy her emails to anyone; at least, not the ones she sends to me anyway. It makes me wonder how many other residents she’s tormenting, older people who may not be so inclined to stick up for themselves 😟

@stitchincarol – Bang Bang Shrimp?! 😱 No, never heard of that, but I can’t even look at seafood. I think it’s a sort of phobia I’ve got. I’ll open a can of tuna, but that’s about as adventurous as I get with fish. I used to scoff at an older neighbour who would go to bed between 8 or 9 pm & be up & about when it was still dark. And now I’m in bed around 9:30 pm, & Boo Boo always makes sure I’m awake around 6 am 😼

    @penz, @brightonbelle – stay tuned! 😅

It’s a Sunday FD for me, as usual. Hop on the list guys! You know it makes sense ! 😉 Happy S🌞nday!

    Pocket List – Day 13 🧅
    @funshipfreddie

    Day 13 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 239 lbs. Tomorrow will be my FD. @stitchincarol I would be working on a Doctorate. Egads, I’ve been unsure for 25 years about that and still have uncertainty! But I figure if it is going to get done, now is the time. @penz Either in Educational Leadership or Leadership studies. I have found another relatively inexpensive (and a “one class at a time” paced) program, but only about 3-5 new people are accepted per semester. Still, I’m encouraged. I asked for information, began my application on Friday, and got a call from the university on Saturday. This, coming from an accredited public university, surprised me! An enrollment coach will email me tomorrow. Still, even with that program, the earliest start date is mid-January. I will take a look at the online programs in Australia and see what’s on offer. I’m not opposed! I did look at an online program in Scotland, but the price would be double that of the U.S. public university I found, plus the need to travel to Scotland twice a year (which I found to be exciting, but that does mean even more cash).

    Day 13 – Ireland – NFD 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 🌾

Hello all! I got back Saturday but have had a busy sunny
weekend after a lovely sunny break. ☀️☀️

Will weigh (eek) and check in tomorrow.

    Hoping everyone is well.

    Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕

    Day 14 NZ FD 70.3kg🔻🌴

Today is a gardening jungle day. I am training up a school boy neighbour to work with me . He’s saving up for a school trip to Japan. It’s still v dry here and my tree ferns are suffering… I used to bucket out water from my old washing machine but now I have a smart side loader which isn’t so smart after all in the scheme of things…
@jaifaim Hope the weigh in goes well!! I am still trying to recover from my recent trip!!
@northgeorgia Good luck with your application!! Scotland sounds great!! Quite a few teachers etc here go across to Oz particularly Melbourne to upgrade their qualifications. The universities are set up well for distance students but you do have to turn up every so often.
@funshipfreddie I’m glad to hear you’re loving your new computer!! I have an oldish iPhone and was thinking that an upgrade was going to be hit with tariffs but apparently not. They’re going to be exempt if you can believe anything.
@penz Is your nephew incredibly tall or conversely are you short?!!🤣 It’s amazing how much taller the kids are now , esp girls. I have several young friends over 6ft…
@iona72 and excelsior12409 I’m with you both on being a wee bit ‘stuck’. But let’s do this!!💪 Not very long ago I was 2kg less…
@stitchincarol Your dinner sounds fabulous!! Just to add to the tomato saga – I am still getting Cherry tomatoes from my garden!!
@brightonbelle Your walk over the South Downs sounds gorgeous. Did you meet any sheep?? Is that where the South Down sheep come from or is it another South Downs??!
    Have a good day!!

@merryapple: my bad – my nephew is 13yo; it’s my niece who is 11!! I am 5’6” in old money, so not particularly short, but he is above average for his height.

Happy to give you thoughts about any Aussie uni you might find and like the look of, @northgeorgia! I’ve got degrees from quite a few of them….

    Day 14 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD 16:8

Starting the week in the lower decade and very happy with that despite wine at the weekend. I did a lot of work in the garden this beautiful weekend, a lot of painting fences and what-not and the physical work must have burnt some calories. ☺️

It’s a short work week as we finish in Thursday for Easter. Let’s do this.

@stitchincarol I remember the challenge between you and @northgeorgia, when was that? Last year? Well done on getting to fit into your new skirt for Easter.

@funshipfreddie, I also remember Gate Gate…..Judy sounds like, what we would say here, a right weapon!!!

@jaifaim good luck with the weigh in.

Right, off to work. Have a great day all.

    Day 14 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 71.2 kg

    Sunday FD accomplished 🎯

@merryapple – I read that too – computers & phones to be exempt from tariffs; but we all know that could change in the blink of an eye 😏

@penz – did you really type ‘my bad’?! I’m shocked! You’ve been spending too much time with young people🤯 🤣

@daffodil – a ‘right weapon’?! I’ve never heard that before. I’d be more inclined to use the, probably less polite expression – ‘a right tool’ 😅

Aiming for a very sensible week before the long Easter Weekend. Sending RESOLVE to the Monday fasters 💪

I did indeed see lots of sheep and cute little lambs @merry🍎 had to walk through a couple of cow herds which freaks me out a bit

Weigh-in: 241 lbs. When will I learn to stop the hunger dragon panicking on a pre-FD? Too much wild unhealthy snacking! Last week, I actually went home to pick up some fruits and vegetables to snack on to keep those candies and chips away. Time to up my game on that…

Got to do some budgeting at work today, and I’ll explore some more universities online 🙂

will try and remember what I said

Managed 2 days at weekend as NFDs where I didn’t completely lose control, that’s a big step fwds, thanks all for the encouragement and support here, it’s really helped

@ccco Not planning to do a b2b this week, also wondering how the long weekend will play out, need to plan ahead

@iona72 I hope your daughter is on the mend now?

@stitchincarol I didn’t get to all of the garden work this w/e spent time enjoying the sunshine instead

anyway, not sure where the orig. post went – enjoy the sunshine today

Day 14 country west Australia NFD
Oh @funshipfreddie, I feel your pain re technology!!! I had a quick and unplanned trip across to Sydney to see family pre-Easter and at times I had only 1 bar for my iphone and my wifi simply wouldn’t pick anything up. Very very frustrating.🙄😡
Sydney is a beautiful city and sans car I had to do a lot of walking but I seemed to be the only person looking UP.🙄
We are going in to the second generation of what I refer to as the ‘Bingo’ generation – eyes and head down, glued to their phones just like the elderly were heads down when we called Bingo at the Aged Care facility I worked at….. 😔
And as to strata living , as it is called here in Australia, do NOT get me started!!!

I see we have had a mixed bag re feasting, fasting and good and not-so-happy results with FDs and NFDs and weight loss.🤔
It seems that some of us are being derailed on NFDs. If you work out your TDEE and stick to that on NFDs and keep to 500-800 calories on FDs you will lose weight.
Perhaps portion size might be a problem for some ?
I know the research says that we often underestimate what we eat and overestimate how much exercise we do !! I know that is one of my issues !!😱😱
As Tom Venuto says : You can’t outrun a bad diet !!
@northgeorgia, it can take time to change our bad habits – 28 days to ingrain a new/good habit but only 3 to revert to a bad one…. Why can’t it be the other way round ?
All the best for finding a uni at which to do your doctorate.
@brightonbelle, you can take back control of your weekends.😊 We’ve got this! Happy to hold your hand for moral support.
Not too sure about Easter weekend though …. Happy thought – cocoa beans come off a tree = fruit = chocolate is a fruit and therefore is good for you ?? Works for me!
@daffodil2010, vey happy for your lower number. I agree – together we CAN do this.😁
@penz, I can’t remember if you live in Sydney? Sorry, memory not what it should be , but if so it is a really beautiful city and the weather this week has been perfect.
@Merrypple well done on the recent better number which I m sure you will see again before month’s end. I love your description of your smart side loader being not so smart !
@jaifaim, welcome back and good luck with Cruella de scales … fingers crossed for a good result.🤞🤞
@iona 72, I m glad to hear your daughter is improving but what an awful thing to have. There seem to be some very nasty viruses doing the rounds. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your daughter. 🙏
@stitchincarol, my goodness, you still see to have a lot to do with your move. Hoping you get to your new garden sooner rather than later.
I am going to look up Bang Bang shrimp as it has me intrigued! I had tiger prawn spaghetti for dinner after flying in from Sydney and having to stay in Perth before heading home to the country tomorrow.
@excelsior12309, I do so love toast, all all carbs really ! But yes, we do know that toast for tea is not going to get us to goal quickly 😔
@ccco, the dreaded plateau… but at least you are wise enough to stay on the wagon. Getting in a huff and leaping off the wagon many many moons ago, when I was on a plate for weeks/months for me, was my undoing.
And 7 years later here I am 🙄🙄
@anicecupoftea, Good effort ! Keep up the good work.😊 Yes the support on This forum is wonderful. We all help each other.
OK folks, so now I am going to be like the football coach of a team that I know CAN kick goals, here’s the pep talk.
Let’s all do reasonable FDs, keep to TDEE on NFDs – and try to make your FDs more CDs for the next few weeks (Easter notwithstanding) and see if we can’t kick those goals!! I have great faith in everyone who is on this thread. Come on team – we’ve got this!!

Day 14 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD

@penz When I broached the topic with our realtor two weeks ago, she said it’s actually illegal for us to do anything at the house until we actually own it, so I’m not seeing any point in even asking…And, honestly, I don’t have time to do anything, but just want to SEE what’s happening, LOL. And family catch-ups are always delightful; too funny your nephew is taller now! One of our kids’ classmates was, at the age of 11, already over six feet tall, so I know it can happen that they sometimes grow super tall way early!

@funshipfreddie Yeah, it’s funny how we suddenly “are one” as we get older! Such a huge shame, however, that you don’t do seafood…I eat it joyfully, and not at all because it’s so healthy, or it’s low in calories, or any of those other reasons, but simply because I love it, so I’m sad for what I perceive you to be missing!

@northgeorgia I’m impressed you’re doing this. I’ve toyed with getting a masters ever since I got my undergrad degree, but have concluded it’s not going to happen (and, truly, there’s no point now), so fully understand what a huge commitment you’re making to begin the even-larger process of getting a doctorate!

@merryapple Oh, how lovely that you have someone who can help you with your gardening; from the little snippet you showed of your house several months ago, you have lots to get help with! Is he training up well? And how lovely that you’re still having weather good enough to be getting cherry tomatoes!

@penz WHAT? Tell us about your multiple degrees! Golly, I’m feeling like a slackard now, that I failed to follow through with getting a masters, LOL!

@daffodil2010 Congratulations on a new decade, and, no, that competition was at least two years ago…@northgeorgia, do you remember when?

@brightonbelle What a delightful walk to have seen sheep and lambs, but I’m with you on not being thrilled to be too close to cows, just because of their size. A farm girl, I am not!

I really struggled yesterday afternoon with wanting sweets and nibbles and more than I’d already eaten, but I persevered without giving in more than a tiny bit. Still, the scale is up and I’m irritated. Oh well, I’m down ten pounds from last summer, so even though it’s horribly slow going, it is indeed going. And this week is astonishingly slow to me: I trained a new office secretary last month and as of April 1, she took over. I’m so used to being frantic this week because of the home stuff, all the church services to finish and print, and the organ practicing/playing, and for the first time in about fifteen years, it’s a far calmer and less frantic week. Who knew it would be so much easier not to have that job? 😂

I’m off to the town where we doctor so I can have my blood drawn, get a mammogram, and have my annual. Because of what so many of you have said here, I’ve only taken my statins 3 or 4 days out of seven for much of the last year, and I’m very curious to see what my cholesterol level has done since last year’s blood work.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

My weekend and some of last week turned into NFDs due to a few social events that included food and drink. At a women golfers’ cocktail party, I learned that my name is on two trophies in the trophy room. I knew about one of the trophies and have a home version of it that was given to me years ago. What I didn’t know was that my daughter and I are named on another trophy, as well. The golf pro showed us together on a trophy we won together back in 2008 in a mother/daughter tournament. She was pleased to see that. All my gardening and spring/summer events are coming together now, which should burn more calories! Yay!

Lilymartin, you are right. I am trying to make everything a habit, so it would be emotionally difficult for me to jump off that wagon. No good will come of that.

Stitchincarol, good luck with your blood work. I am hoping my DASH diet will prove to be good for my blood work and lower my cholesterol. I can see it is already helping my blood pressure.

Hope everyone has a great day. I am off to clean my house!!
