Anyone combining 5:2 and Paleo?

  • Hello everyone

    It’s my first fast day today. I’ve been following a Paleo diet and lifestyle for almost a year now and it works well for me. Intermittent fasting is a part of the paleo way of life so thought I would come on board with the 5:2 method. My plan is to have just my evening meal as I think I’ll find it easier that way being a bit of an all or nothing type of person!

    I’d be interested to hear if anyone else has combined 5:2 with paleo and what their experience has been, plus looking forward to learning more from you all whatever your chosen method.

    Going well so far today, first advantage seems to be more time! I’m getting a lot more done so far today!

    Would like to, how’s it working out? Where can I get the best info and support re Paleo? Thanks

    My favourite site for all things paleo/primal is Marks Daily Apple. Everything you could possibly want to know is on there somewhere.
    It suits me better than anything I’ve done before. Weight loss is more of a side effect with paleo, the main thing is health. It makes you feel so good!

    I am thinking of Combining 5:2 , Paleo and 18:6

    45 Years old, 5’4″ tall 131 lbs..great health, 37x28x37
    Goal is to lose 1 inch or 5 lbs.. i have successfully maintained this weight for 20 years by eating 6-7 small meals a day 1200 calories.. SUPER hard and unsatisfying….
    In an effort to get even more healthy and reap the anti-aging benefits and fat loss i would like to try this COMBO.. Mostly my goal is to maintain without thinking so much..

    In the past i have been starving daily to maintain this weight.. With PALEO now I only eat WHOLE foods, added like 300 calories of healthy fat (PALEO) diet.. and all is well.. still maintaining the 131 lbs.. 1500 calories.. TDEE is like 1600.

    but how about if i add fasting to this? and change my habits from so many meals to just 2 a day.. i am starting this today.. tired of eating hardly nothing.. i can eat at 3 & at 7.. and on the 2 fast days i can eat at 3pm only…

    this might help me lose the final 5 lbs. and not slow metabolism and help with anti aging..

    what do you think??

    I have been combining 5:2 with Paleo for some 8 months now. Great results in how I feel, more energy and not getting colds/flu etc.

    On the “fast days” I often just fast completely, and lately been allowing for 2 cheat meals a week, where I allow some non paleo food.

    Most of the benefit of eliminating starchy/carb rich foods is simply making space for more nutritious foods: vegetables, leafy greens, fruits, nuts, etc which I am forced to buy, prepare and eat in the absence of starchy carbs.

    I’m now going to try out: normal eating x 4 /600 cals/0 cals/600 cals see how that goes…

    I have also been combining 5:2 and Paleo since the New Year and do the same – 2 days a week I skip breakfast and lunch and have something like courgetti with topping for dinner and it works perfectly. Used to get a bit hungry but as long as I keep busy I don’t really notice it anymore!

    I do 5:2 to lose weight and Paleo to be healthy, I have lost nearly 10kg so far so hope to move onto 1 day a week in the next few months but will be doing Paleo forever! Total life changer!
