  • Hello!

I am excited to be starting the 5:2 today! I did it briefly a few years ago but was in a very stressful time in my life and got a bit mentally unhealthy (eating disorder mindset) and backed off. I ended up losing weight with other methods and then getting pregnant.

My daughter is now 15 months and I want to lose weight again. I’ve both gained since she was born and also had a lot more left to lose when she was conceived. At my lowest I was 59 pounds down, but now I am only 30 pounds down having gained this past year.

I have been trying to get back at losing weight but am just too busy with a toddler and too absent minded to track *everything* I eat right now. Someone said something the other day that reminded me: oh yeah, the 5:2!

I am much more mentally healthy now and am not worried about eating disorder tendencies as I am just in a totally different situation now. I am breastfeeding and was worried about that, but research seems to say that as long as I drink enough water it should be fine, especially with my daughter being 15 months, so here I am!

Hi MA, Have you had your first day back on 5:2? How did it go?
I guess one good thing about doing it with a toddler is that you will have plenty of distractions!
The fact that your little one isn’t depending wholly on breastfeeding now (I presume!) should make the worry about how it will effect your breast milk easier too.
It is good that you want to concentrate on keeping the fasting sensible and healthy. Sending best wishes!
