@hannah12315 I would recommend doing self experimentation. There are several types of intermittent fasting (which is what 5:2 is) diets out there. The Warrior Diet, Lean Gains, Eat Stop Eat to name a few.
I do a fast M-W-F (one low cal meal with moderate protein, small amount of fat and lots of veggies/leafy greens), T-Th (one main meal that is higher in fat, protein and carbs which include sweets, and possibly a light lunch if I want), Sa-Su are normal eating days where I have whatever I want.
This way of eating allows me to fast for about 20 hours 3 times a week, 16 hours twice a week and I take the weekends off.
The goal of fasting is fat loss and healthy balanced eating, and not just be about weight loss (weight loss could occur from your body eating its muscle if it feels it is starving). There is a difference between losing weight and losing fat.
Focusing on losing weight quickly (rather than losing fat at a healthy pace) could set you up with an eating disorder, so please be mindful and eat healthily while fasting.
Good luck with you journey!
