  • Does the fact that I am 70 have any impact on trying this way of living? Hope not, since I have already bought all the books and want to give it a go. I don’t want to diet….just to change to a better way of dealing with food. I am very overweight, and know if it can shift there will be loads more energy

    Hello NorrieB,
I am 67, a bit behind you in age with 54kgs to lose to get to the upper limit of my goal weight. I’ve shifted7.8kgs since 26th April and have found 5:2 totally adaptable to my lifestyle. I find this forum a very supportive environment with stacks of good information. I wish you all the best starting out on your journey.

There are plenty of us of more mature years here. Never let it be said that it’s too little too late!

    Norrie,

My Dad’s been fasting for two years now, and he’s 83. You’re not too old yet 😀

Thank you for the replies, that is encouraging! I have fairly easily managed the first day of fasting. Didn’t expect it to be quite so smooth and had just under 400 calories.
Reflecting on why it was so smooth, it very much had to do with knowing that I could eat what I wanted the next day. That changed the approach completely. The interesting thing is though, that this morning there was no rush to GO and EAT…that was an even better feeling. This is now MY choice, I am the one who chooses. I am aware of what I am eating, and just watching it. What is so instructive is the change of mindset. This is going to be a whole new experience!

Well done, NorrieB! I think many of us feel that the greater control over our eating habits that we get from this is worth a lot. You may find that as you go on its not as easy as you thought some days or weeks, but it’s like any learning, goes up and down a bit while getting established. This chat site is brilliant for help as you can see, so hang in here. And good luck.
