  • Morning all!! Happy Valentine’s day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It just dawned on me I might be one and only fasting on Valentine’s day lol!!

tummy rumbling now, been up since 3.00 am, I have a long commute to London on Fridays… had black coffee so far and a couple of breakfasts biscuits..

jelly and soup for lunch, how exciting is that uh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a lovely day everyone 🙂

Morning Angie! Good luck today! You might be right that you’re the only one fasting on Valentines Day! Best of luck to you, hope it’s a good day!

I’ve also been up since about 3am, I woke up randomly and couldn’t get back to sleep for ages – I wonder if insomnia is a side effect that people commonly experience when fasting?

Morning LittleDragon and thanks for message 🙂

not sure about the insomnia being a side effect but I do tend to wake up a lot in the middle of the night grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

have yourself a fab day!! :-)xx

    Hi Angie

Before I started fasting I used to sleep like a log, now I get some nights when I find it difficult to drift off. I am trying different things. At the moment it’s magnesium supplements which I’ve seen recommended on other sites.

hi Barbarita and thanks for tip, I may try that!!

I really hate it when I wake up I in the middle of the night, its always around 3 am or earlier grrrrrrrrrrrrrr sometimes I just put the telly on to help me drift off again…I know its a bad thing to do though 🙁

good luck with the magnesium, and let us know how you get on!! 🙂 xx

Hi Angie – how are you finding your fast day so far? Let me know how you’re getting on! You’re a braver person than me fasting on a Friday! xx

Hi Silvestra and everyone else, sorry the name of the app might have been helpful!! It’s my Fitness pal – it’s a sister site to Mapmyfitness that some of you might like to check out. You can record all kinds of activity on it, from walking the dog, to going up and down stairs.

How’s today going Angie? Hope you have made it through.

Witchy god this weather must be extra depressing for you, not able to get out and work much – read lots of books, spring cleaning,um sleeping, clean your teeth, just keep busy xxx

Funny some of you are waking up, I sleep like a log, maybe the Fast Exercise is helping with that!

    Gail x

Angie, I’m fasting today too! My usual days are Tues and Thurs but yesterday I was snowed in at home with the family and thought it would be too tempting to visit the fridge, so put off the fast till today. Hope my other half wasn’t planning on a romantic dinner tonight, lol.

    Evening all!

Hope everybody is fine and enjoying a Valentine night 🙂 LittleDragon and Hilly66 that is so sweet to think of me, fast went ok and now i am home i feel better knowing tomorrow is near lol!!
Kilda i hope today’s fast went well for you too, and if OH made a romantic dinner then thats ok too as there is always tomorrow !!

Nite nite everyone, hope you all have a safe but lovely weekend 🙂 xxx

Good morning fellow 5 2ers, weigh day for me! Delighted to report I’ve lost another pound, bringing my total loss in 6 weeks to 8.5 lbs 🙂 My total body fat is slowly coming down too.

This week will be a challenge as I’m home for half term with the kids!! But am determined to keep going.

    Fasting Monday and Wednesday hopefully.

Have a fabulous Sunday everyone and keep going.

    x

    Hi and well done Hilly66!

you are progressing really well, way to go now!! 🙂

have a great sunday too xx

Really well done @hilly66, thrilled for you! You’re doing amazingly!

How did your fast on friday go Angie?

JFitzy you will be cross with me, but at least it’s not a daily weigh!… But I have confession and jumped on the scale yesterday and was down two pounds… But then stepped on again literally 30 seconds later after I took off my clothes and was 2 pounds back up? I’m confused! Anyway even if I’ve plateaued I am determined to have a good week this week… And I promise not to weigh myself during the week!!!!

Happy Sunday; the sun is shining! 🙂

Hi LittleDragon and thanks for asking 🙂

Friday went ok, the traffic on the way back home was horrendous grrrr

am working today, its quite sunny in London today, for a change!!
please put those scales away, they play hide and seek with you :-)!!

have a lovely sunday hun and take care xx

Evening Littledragon, you couldn’t resist but that’s ok, so long as you’re not sabotaging yourself! Anyway your scales sound very temperamental! Don’t let them upset you!! If you have an other half, get them to hide them for you!

Working on a Sunday Angie – what do you do? Hope you got to enjoy some of that sunshine and temptation didn’t come your way.

Well anyway watching the BAFTAs so have an excellent rest of the evening everone.

Hope tomorrow goes well for anyone fasting like me and those of you that aren’t enjoy the freedom.

    Hilly x

    Morning all.

Thanks for your message @hilly66 – I know, I am a slave to the scales, but I really should stop. I knew when I boldly claimed last week that I wouldn’t weigh myself daily that I wouldn’t be able to stick to it… but I will absolutely try not to weigh myself for three weeks and do the first weigh in at the end of March!

    How was everyone’s weekend?

I’m not doing my usual Monday fast because I’ve got dinner plans tonight. I do like this diet in that you can fit it around your social life etc. but it feels very strange not to fast today after getting used to a Monday detox following the weekend. I think I’ll do Wednesday and Thursday, as can’t do Tuesday and I don’t like the idea of fasting on a Friday! Wednesday AND Thursday I’ve got a lunch meeting so it’ll be interesting trying to resist the food there!

    On another note –

This weekend I picked up the XLS Medical pills – has anyone tried them or known anyone who has? I’ve seen the adverts on TV and I’m normally so sceptical about diet pills and would never take them, but they hold themselves out to be “medically approved” so I’ll be interested to know whether they work or not…

Happy fasting to you Monday fasters – wish I was doing it with you! xx

    Good morning LittleDragon!

those scales need to be put under lock and key lol!! re the pills, I have tried something similar a while ago and honestly I don’t think they work, and 5.2 works on its own,am no expert hun, but mixing 5.2 with another plan might not work?

but it is your prerogative and i’ll be interested to see if those tabs work!!
you might well get some other views on this 🙂

take care and have a lovely day xxx

Morning Angie – thanks for your reply. Did you have a good weekend?

I know, I’m a bit sceptical, and people will probably think I’m mad for getting them but I guess I was just curious. I have read some reviews online, and it’s quite mixed – some say they worked, and others don’t. I think I might give them a go, and if I don’t find they are working or if they give me side effects then I will just stop and go with 5:2 only. I guess if there was really a magic pill out there that automatically helped lots of weight loss then we would all be taking it but I suppose all of us in some way have been at least a bit curios!

Thanks for your input though, I really appreciate it! xx

    Hey no worries hun,

you are right, an elusive magic pill 🙂 we wish!! my weekend was not too bad, was working, how about you?

today I am home and the weather looks ok, already been out walkies with dogs, lets hope it stays dry all day now!

have a lovely day, take care xx
ps, have you locked those scales yet? 🙂

Had a lovely weekend thank you, the weather was great on Sunday which made for a nice change – managed to catch up with friends, get some shopping done and spend time with the other half. Also managed to get two good gym sessions in! How was work?

Haha – I’m at work so haven’t had a chance to lock the scales away. I keep them just next to my full length mirror at home, but will ignore them for a bit (I did a pretty good job of doing that when I wasn’t on a diet – denial!). But also if I start taking the XLS pills, I’ll be interested to see whether it accelarates weight loss, so might need them once every few weeks for that!

    xx

    Hi Little Dragon!!

sounds like your weekend was lovely 🙂 at least the weather improved!
work was ok but had a “run in” with a visitor, always get them on a weekend… you know the type, THEY are rude to you and ignorant but then they complain WE are rude to them, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
as much we get lovely people in, with a sense of humour and friendly, equally we’ll get those who come in hell bent on challenging you…bah!!

last night they had the London Fashion show after hours, but they were setting up very early and of course visitors were curious and asking us lol, but we were told at the briefing not to divulge about the LFW, we had quite a laugh making up all sorts of excuses…
as for me I just couldn’t wait to get away at closing time!!!!!!!!!!!!

well that was a rather long post 🙂 sorry I got carried away there!!
have a great day, take care and don’t work too hard 🙂 xx

I know exactly what you mean – I think when you deal with the general public, that’s always a risk! I couldn’t do it – I worked in a few bars a few years ago and absolutely hated it. You’re there to help people but there are always a few that are demanding, expectant and see it as a bit of a game to push you. NOT GREAT. The London Fashion Week sounds like it’s fun to be involved with but I can imagine it’s a nightmare to be involved in the organisation for! Lots of shops are doing a LFW discount special, was browsing on Dorothy Perkins just now (that puts paid to your suggestion that I’m working too hard! haha!)

Have a great day! 🙂 hope the weather stays nice for your dog walking this afternoon xxx

    Thank you LittleDragon!!

now back to work missy :-)xxx

    Hello all

I hope you all had a great weekend and a great Valentines’ Day. LittleDragon of course I am not cross but you do need to lock those scales up this minute!!! 🙂

I didn’t manage 4:3 last week but I was careful except for the weekend when I did enjoy myself I have to say! Only 12 days to my next weigh in so I am really going for it. I started 6 weeks ago today and I have only weighed myself once in that time but I have measured myself and I have lost 2.5 inches off my waist woo hoo!

It was great to see some sunshine yesterday for a change. We took advantage of it and went for a 6 mile walk by the river which was lovely.

I am fasting today, Wednesday and Thursday this week – hope you are all having a great Monday and speak later 🙂

    Hello JFitzy,

2.5 inches off of your waist that’s fantastic, I admire your strength weighing so infrequently! I’m not too bad once a week. 3 days of fasting, good luck with that, don’t think I could manage that!

I’m fasting today too. OMG look out everyone!! Doing a little differently today, normally I have breakfast then nothing ’til the evening meal. Today I didn’t get up ’til 10, so I thought I’d skip breakfast and maybe have a light lunch instead.

I feel absolutely fine; however I seem to have turned into a snarling, hot headed mother (admittedly my son can be irritating with his constant answer for everthing! – he’s 10), however I have turned into an evil yelling mother!!!

Hmmm now I have realised have said I’m sorry but might rethink Wednesday’s plan!!!

Hope you’re all having an excellent day with strong will power 🙂

    x

    O

    Hi Hilly66

I used to be obsessed with the scales (just like LittleDragon!!) but I decided to show some will power and do a monthly weigh in only.

I have to do 3 days as I am such a piglet at the weekends (ha ha!!)

I will most probably go back to 2 days a week once I have lost another 7 lbs or so and see how I go.

Hope you are enjoying your day off 🙂

Hi all – I am a self-confessed scales addict but will really try NOT weigh myself for the next few weeks. I guess it’s just this desperate need to know that I’m on the right track but this could also be counter productive because I get quite down when I see that there’s been an increase or no loss.

Good luck to you fasters today! JFitzy I’ll be joining you on your Wednesday & Thursday fasts.

    Hi LittleDragon

Good luck this week. Why don’t you measure yourself while you are not weighing as that will keep you motivated? I don’t feel I have lost anything but I know my clothes are loser so I refuse to give into the scales 🙂

Hi JFitzy – that’s a good idea, but the mistake I made was not taking measurements before I embarked on this Fast Diet so I can’t track my progress!

Maybe I should just start now though, as the first month I was weighing and I suppose the second month could be about measuring. Thanks for the tip! Great idea! 🙂 xx

Also ladies – if you’re a lover of chocolate like Angie and I, here’s a tip – I recently discovered Slim Fast chocolate bars – my favourite one is the Chocolate Caramel Treat which is only 95 calories and tastes just like a Mars Bar but at a fraction of the calorie content! Give them a go – they’re 49p at the mo in Superdrug but they’re doing BOGOF! Just had one as a mid afternoon treat without over doing it!

I found the Chocolate Caramel Treat bars in Tesco! If you buy them on BOGOF – lock the second one away! They are soooooo good.

    xx

Ooh I might have to give those a go. However my favourite is Curly Wurly straight from the freezer. A whole one is just 115 calories so I have a half one for under 60 calories which is a nice treat for after dinner 🙂

Ooh putting a curly wurly in the freezer sounds intriguing! Might have to try them. I am also a BIG fan of the Weight Watchers Caramel Wafers – 78 calories, really good and can’t believe they’re so low in cals!

Definitely give the CW’s a go LittleDragon – you won’t regret it!! 🙂

I’ve tried putting the Chocolate Caramel Treat bars in the freezer too, then cutting them into slices – it makes them last longer!!! 😀

    xx

Aggghhhh all this chocolate talk!!! I’m so hungry at the mo, the kid’s bolognese smells delicious, think I might have some but don’t worry I worked out the calories and I can do it, so might have it with some purple sprouting broccoli so I don’t get tempted by the pasta devil!!

Littledragon I’ll do a little pact with you and won’t weigh myself for two weeks, would go longer but will have been 8 weeks since I started then, so don’t think I could contain myself any longer. Are you up for it?

Ha ha just glanced at the TV, James Martin (TV chef for our American pals) is pouring a delicous looking custard onto a meringue base, topping with whipped double cream, fresh rasberries and a caramel looking sauce (It’s on mute so I can’t actually hear it!!) Torture!

Curly Wurly straight from the freezer bliss mind you JFitzy don’t they seem to have shrunk over the years?!

Right must stop thinking about food, time for some fast exercise!!

Your dogs must be getting very fit Angie 🙂

    TTFN x

Sorry Hilly66! Didn’t mean to tempt you with all this talk of chocolate – you can have whatever you want tomorrow (by which time you probably won’t even want it!) Tomorrow’s just a day away – you can do it!

The pact sounds like a great shout – this is just what I need to get me off the scales and weight obsessively. Right – I promise I will NOT touch my scales until AT LEAST 7th March! (I had originally earmarked this date as a weigh in date but I wasn’t able to stick to it because I really didn’t have motivation to do so). Thanks for coming up with the plan. Then on the weigh in day in 2 weeks time, we will announce what we have lost. (I hope it at least SOMETHING!)

JFitzy and Angie – are you proud of me!? Haha!

Keep on going Hilly66, you can do it, and then that’s 50% of your fasting done for the week! (kind of wish I was fasting today, it feels quite good to detox after a big weekend!)

@sylvestra – have you tried frozen Malteasers? They’re great for a light treat (sorry Hilly66!)

Thanks @littledragon …a treat for tomorrow maybe…fast day today and I’m a long way from a shop! 😀
Sorry for the chocolate talk @hilly66

    xx

Ok so no weighing ’til 7 March!! OMG that’s ages away! No cheating LittleDragon. We can get the tape measure out instead!

Glad there is not chocolate in the house, there would definitely be carnage!! Have been irritable wit my son all day, then foolishly we decided to have a go at getting his Raspberry Pi working (1st attempt at Christmas failed but have since bought the appropriate wires to be able to connect it to the TV). Small fanfare … we got an image on the TV Screen, it was merrily trundling through the next download, when … the screen went blank. By the time I’d fiddled about with the leads and got it working again, a black screen covered in computer speak appeared and it had just stopped!!! Fudge!! Google the computer speak but didn’t understand it all. So now back at stage 1 – Frustrating in the extreme!!!

I could happily murder an entire box of chocolates single handedly at the moment!!

    Grrrrrrrrr

Hooray a normal day tomorrow 🙂

PS Frozen Maltesers, I’m afraid they’d never live that long in our house!!!

    Morning all!

Well done to all the fasters yesterday, hope it was a good day. I’m fasting today (and Angie too, I think!) – it’s funny, yesterday I kept thinking “It’s Monday – I wish I was fasting” but today I woke up dreading it a bit!

Hilly66 – promise I won’t weigh myself til March 7th! I know it’s a long way away, but we can certainly do this. I measure my waist this morning (annoyingly I didn’t do this at the beginning before I embarked on the FD but better late than never). Sounds like you had a frustrating day yesterday! You’re a more patient person than me putting up with technology fails and demanding children on a fast day! What did you have yesterday for your meals? Enjoy your normal eating day today and treat yourself to some chocolate!

    xx

    Morning LittleDragon/Hilly66 & Angie
I am glad I had logged off yesterday when I did – too much chocolate talk for a fast day!!

I had a good one yesterday and I am feeling very motivated as I put a dress on today that I haven’t worn since Christmas and it is a lot looser – yeah! Out for a work dinner tonight but with my dress success today I will definitely be very good.

LittleDragon if you manage not to weigh until 7 March I will personally send you some curly wurlys for you to freeze 🙂

I am fasting again tomorrow and Thursday and then that is me done until next week.

Have a good day all x

    Morning peeps 🙂

hope you are all well, well done JFitzy and I bet that dress looked gorgeous!!

oooh I was catching up on all the posts and all that talk of chocolate grrrr, fasting today 🙁 never mind, we can have some chocs tomorrow 🙂

have a good one all you fab fasters!!

(she says with a rumbling tummy…) xxxx

Morning JFitzy – glad yesterday went well for you, well done on getting through another fast day. Brilliant news about the dress, you must feel great about that! I think in a few weeks time I might try on those jeans that felt SO tight around Christmas and see how I get on. Really well done! Remind me again when you started on this fast diet? I started on Jan 13th, so it’s 5 weeks for me I think. My other half mention he thought my calves and thighs are looking smaller this morning! That was nice to hear.

Right, well the challenge is officially on – I WILL NOT weigh myself until March 7th – I’ve got Hilly66 and Cury Wurlys from JFitzy riding on this!

Fasting today, not feeling too hungry at all. Normally I get really hungry mid morning and then around lunchtime I’m fine and can push my first meal back to around 4/5pm. Had lots of herbal tea and water so far!

Have a good day everyone x

Hi LittleDragon that is great that your other half has noticed a difference – it is good motivation.

I started on 6 January so I am one week ahead of you. BTW I know you get things in M&S so I thought I would tell you (and anybody else that is interested!)that I bought 3 packs of flat iron steaks for £10 the other day. I had a huge stir fry (again!) last night for 300 calories. 100g of the steak is only 115 calories (I had a bit less than 100g)and then I used a small bit of olive oil together with my 1 cal spray, a very small amount of egg fried noodles and loads of veg and a dash of low salt soya sauce. I will get 6 meals out of the steak as there are 250g per pack. My hubby is also doing 5:2 so I do a 600 meal for him as he waits until the evening to use all his calories. So with the noodles and the veg it works out about £4 per meal and it is really filling and honestly doesn’t feel like a fast day at all.

    Have a good day 🙂

    Hi LittleDragon!

have a good day too, I am not organised at all today, I didn’t plan for fast so am just going to have a low cal soup lunchtime I think, then some tea mid afternoon and pray for 6pm to come quick lol!!
    I have a Morrisson’s meal at 276 cal, linguinis chilly prawns 🙂

    lets do this!! xx

Hello JFitzy – thanks so much for the tip, that sounds like a delicious dinner and I would never have thought to eat steak on a fast day (normally I’m too tired, hungry and lazy to think of cooking my own food) but perhaps I’ll look into that! 3 steaks for £10 is incredible value especially from M&S. Stir fry tends to be quite a popular choice for fast day dinners I’ve noticed.

Hello Angie – wishing us both luck today – it’s going okay so far – on your recommendation I’ve got a Warburtons Thin for lunch – I’ve got two triangles of light laughing cow cheese (100 calories for the bread, 50 calories for the two triangles) and 4 slices of wafer thin cooked chicken from Sainsburys at 13 calories each. I’m going to put cheese and chicken on one piece of bread so that’s 50 + 25 + 26 = 101 calories for each piece and hopefully that’ll keep me going til dinner! I try and keep to 200 calories for lunch and use 300 at dinner. For dinner I’ve got a Sainsbury’s “My Goodness” meal – it’s a roast chicken with gravy, baby potatoes and lots of veggies and it’s only 305 calories. (will leave a little bit of the food to ensure I don’t go over 500!)

Let’s have a great fast day!

    Brilliant LittleDragon!

you are so much more prepared than me lol, I might well do a Warburton too 🙂 I love them and if you toast them they are like paninis nomnom lol!!

i’ll have mine like yours with some philly light or laughing cow,and ham and maybe even a smidge of avocado 🙂

    right, enough food talk!!!!!!!!!

have a good day, and yes lets have a super duper fast day 🙂 xx

Hi LittleDragon there are four pieces of thin steak in each pack – it is brilliant value!!

    Speak soon 🙂

Unforunately I don’t have a toaster at work so can’t toast mine! But I’ll try that at the weekend, thank you. I’ve been meaning to try these for a while so today will be the first time after seeing the advertised everywhere. I absoutely love bread, but this seems like a much lower calorie alternative.

Planning on going for a little walk at lunch time and holding off eating for as long as I can!

Enjoy your dog walks today! x

I’ll have to pop to M&S on my way home from work in that case JFitzy! Thanks again for the heads up! xx
