  • Well after being given a very dismal view of my future health by my GP he has given me the details on this diet , at 52 I must have tried every diet that has ever been published so really hoping this is the method to get my weight under control for good.

I have a lot to lose and its going to be a long journey but having almost been refused surgery due to my weight it was a shocking wake up call

Hope to keep posting as I need inspiration and encouragement folks

    Hi Gottodoit,

Reading these forums from others who have being doing this even only for a few months, many have reported losing meaningful weight. You’ll find the first fast day will be difficult and the second will get easier and then after that it is easier still.

Stick with it, just as the book says to do, and you should be well on your way to losing the weight you are needing to lose.

Keep us updated here on your progress.

Hi gottodoit, welcome to your new way of life. You will find many people on here who will give you advise if you just ask. First thing to do is to check out your tdee, that’s your energy expenditure. Go up the top of the page and look in how it works. This gives you a marker so you can understand what to keep to on normal days. Fast days for you are 600 cals or less. It is a bit difficult at first so give yourself a week to settle in then adjust what you have experienced. Try leaving out some of the carbs as they work out expensive when other choices would fill you up more. Drink water and thin soups to keep you going, a little salt is necessary. Start walking gently if you can. Read the forum. Look for a thread that suits your situation and just ask to join in.
People on here will encourage you. Are you in the UK or somewhere else, lots of different nationals doing the 5:2.
Keep us informed of how you are managing. Best wishes.

Hi all thanks for the replies nice to know your all out there . Done all the calculations and have my TDEE so I know what I need to consume on my fast days but know its going to be a challenge as I love food.

I am in the UK and have also been referred to a gym/activity scheme to try and get me moving more as my job has me sitting down for several hours in the day.

Off shopping for food today so will be really considering what I am buying
