5:2 Fast Formula Pills Thoughts

  • Hi All,

    I was wondering if anyone has heard of these pills? According to the website they have been specially formulated for those on the 5:2 Fast Diet as they contain an extract from the Konjac root extract. I’m just a bit dubious about it. It all seems a bit too good to be true. If they turn out to be legit and do work, I think I may try them, as I do suffer with hunger pangs.

    Hi Dave, i have heard of them, not used them myself as i found the hunger does pass soon enough and i can now manage to hold off until evening where i have my cals in one good meal, im sure theres been a few posts on here about it, i belive one of our posters is trying them out, hoping she will be along to give you her findings, x

    Leave well alone, these seem to be some one trying to rip off people starting the “fast diet”. Michael and Mimi have not suggested them as far as I know.

    Part of the point of 5:2 is to live with and deal with the hunger pangs – they will not kill you but will effectively minimise your appetite in the longer term. Stand away from the pills 🙂

    I agree with the others, it sounds like a gimmick to cash in on the 5:2 diet.

    Havent used these pills, but the zero noodles, pasta etc all come from this same plant. Not sure you want to go down that road. like others here, I deal with a bit of hunger now and then. It gets easier.

    The pills are being advertised as an appetite suppressant using the 5:2 as it’s platform for sales. Best not to waste your money. The zero noodles on the other hand are definitely not new and have been eaten in Japan for many many years, under the name Shiritaki noodles. They are not sold as an appetite suppressant. I don’t want to promote them but I do use them as part of my allowance. Having said that, I do allow myself to feel hunger.

    Don’t agree with these pills – the whole idea of this ‘diet’ is to re-train ourselves to recognise hunger and deal with it… as soon as I hear the word supplements a warning bell goes off! It seems to be, as has been said, a gimmick to cash in.

    This is what has been putting me off buying them, let’s face it, they are not cheap. I even popped into Boots and they sell their own version, much cheaper too but still I was not swayed. One of my biggest problems is I work with food on trains and also this requires a varying shift pattern and I can’t stick to the same says each week. Does this matter?

    Basically so far all I can say is that yes they do make you feel full – but that’s hardly surprising as they’re made from konjac root. I personally have no problem with feeling hungry for a minute or so here and there on a fast day, so wouldn’t feel the need to use them. Yet to see if they cause improved weight loss as advertised, but will keep reporting back on my experience with them.

    They’ve certainly divided opinion at my forum, some users like the idea of not having to feel hungry, others feel it’s against the principles of 5:2 and dealing with hunger. Myself, well I’m happy to try them out and report back. Much like Dr Mosley I don’t mind being a human guinea pig for the benefit of others! I fully accept that some people like supplements and others don’t 🙂

    Hi, I’m starting out on the 5:2 diet and I plan to combine it with Konjac-pills*.
    BUT NOT ON THE FASTING-DAYS !
    I don’t mind hunger (with a good purpose) and my only worry is over-eating the other days .
    A bonus could be extra weightloss this way !?

    The idea is to cut food-intake further as I got heavy mainly from over-eating at dinners, not from excesssive snacks & sweets !
    I’ll exercise hard on a rowing machine ½ hour daily too .

    I’ll let You know later how this works out 🙂

    I do know you do not need them.

    Just do 5:2. It is very cheap – because you eat less.

    Please don’t do this – read the other comments on this thread
    The whole idea of 5:2 is to eat sensibly whilst cutting back on the 2 days, you will lose weight this way.

    There is no need for these products which are starting to be marketed at us – they are just a way for snake oil salesmen to make money from people who want to get healthy.

    Just do 5:2, train yourself to eat sensible amounts and the weight will go and you will be able to maintain a more healthy eating habit

    Nothing wrong with them, konjac is a very effective form of fibre, much nicer to take than psyllium husks if constipation ever becomes an issue. But not essential for fasting.

    While there is a use for some types of “fibre pills” to give that “fuller feeling” I wonder why people take them. I agree that sometimes there are medical reasons that they should be taken but ultimately I believe that in a healthy diet they are not needed. Dieting is basically a psychological issue and diet supplements are I believe a psychological prop in many cases. Depending on the type of diet people engage in (but not all) enough fibre is naturally found in foods for bodily requirements. TVD, you say your weight problems are due to over eating, including the wrong types of food. The same can be said of myself and many others. The simple answer is to change. Difficult I know, but reading many of the posters efforts they have achieved this. I do not believe that these supplements are much use if when taking them one carries on eating the same types and amounts of food that make them over weight in the first place. Psychological change can be very difficult I know but ultimately for many it is the way forward. If, having said all of this an individual feels the need to take them then by all means do so but only as an aid medically required.

    I wish Dr Mosley and Mimi would state their feelings about this subject openly and clearly. The Diet Supplement/Diet suppression pill thing is rife with junk! As you can get almost anything online it has become a real mess!

    It doesn’t matter which days you fast, one of the best things about 5:2 is that we can adapt it to suit ourselves.

    I agree with the majority of others who have posted, appetite suppressants are not the way to go. Fasting enables us to recognise the difference between food cravings, hunger and thirst, something that most of us cannot do which is why we are all here.
    We live in a society where everyone thinks that they need to eat every couple of hours or something terrible will happen and at the first sign of a rumbling tummy we rush to eat something without thinking about whether we are really hungry. The food industry have done an excellent job of convincing us we need a packet of crisps or a couple of biscuits two hours after breakfast, and a cake or a bar of chocolate with our afternoon cuppa. They are now busy counting their profits.

    It is important to know what hunger pangs feel like and learn that we can ignore them and they’ll pass.
    5:2 isn’t just about losing weight but also enables us to lose bad habits and give ourselves the ability to keep the weight off.

    Amazon, I agree. I find it very liberating to feel hunger and be able to shrug it off.
