  • Around February last year I started IF intermittent fasting with an 18 hour fasting window and 1800 cals and around 1 hour of cardio on a low resistance stationary bike. I had gained around 50lbs from around the ages of 17 – 20 , in 3 weeks of Intermittent fasting I dropped down from 232lbs – 210lbs somehow. I was happy with the results and just tried to maintain until august when I started eating not really thinking i’d gain the weight back , its the end of April and ive gained all the weight back including an extra 10lbs , I have been trying to start IF again for the last few months and havent had the will power not to eat like a mad man , so far Ive had little success in stopping myself. But 2 days ago I kept the IF and 1800 cals diet up for 2 days im down from 242lbs to 238lbs (probably just water). Hopefully this website can motivate me to drop down to 200lbs , Im going to try some low calorie days such as the 500 calories and then other days I will try maintenance (2500) , I will also try and do some Intermittent fasts and try the 36/24 hour fasts.

Questions: Have you calculated what your upper limit on non-fasting days should be? Are you exercising? Are you maximizing your exercise benefit by burning at least 300 calories on a stationary bike, on fast days, before you eat anything. You should be fasting 36 hours; that means. Go to bed on the “normal” eating day, on fast day consume less than 600 calories (eat eggs, fruit, veggies and Miso soup only, NO GRAINs, Starchy or processed foods), go to bed at the end of your fast day and start eating “normally again” when you awake the next day. Finally if you’re not counting every single calorie you are overeating on non-fast days; use myfittnespal.com (MFP) to record every calorie; from the milk you put in your coffee or tea to the calories in coffee or tea. Attached is an article on why working out on fasting days is so powerfully productive in facilitating the weight loss process. http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2012/03/16/aerobic-training-fasted-vs-fed-state.aspx

Finally, have goals in mind; things you would like to do but can’t because you are presently too overweight. My first goal is to be able to skydive; I have to weigh under 230 pounds to skydive. I am fast approaching that first goal. My second goal is to get to 200, women are all over me when I am at that weight. My last goal is to reach my normal weight of 185 pounds and thus be off prescription medications for blood pressure. Feel free to ask me questions should you need greater clarification. Good luck!

The leverage to keep me on the straight and narrow and lose weight from 112kg was to get off the blood pressure meds which were killing me. First went for a ketogenic life style and don´t count calories,- cutout wheat and grains generally low carb high fat,- olive oil, butter, coconut oil. So low carb., medium protein and high fat got me down to 87kg down 25 kg. Now on a bit of a plateau and am using 5+2 to get down below 80 kg to get back to where I used to be in younger years.
