  • Hi
I don’t know what to eat on my 500 cal days, I’m guessing a Mars bar and a yoghurt plus a glass of wine might not be a good idea!
I tried a sandwich and a banana and yoghurt which worked quite well, but wondered how others manage on their low cal days to make a meal out of so few cals.
    Would love a few ideas.

Just started today so not an expert, although I have done IF previously pretty successfully.
Today I will break-fast at 2pm with a small snack of 1/4 cup of blueberries, 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk and 1/2 oz of salami (I eat LCHF and want to get some fat in even on the IF days).
Dinner will be early (for us) around 6pm and will be 4 1/2 oz sockeye salmon grilled, 1/2 cup sweet potato with a small amount of real butter, and spinach dry sauteed and dressed with 1 tsp of sesame oil.

Comes in just a few cals over 500 for the day.

I like the sound of the sweet potato, that’s a good idea. You’ve just given me another idea actually, baked potato with cottage cheese and a green salad would probably come in quite low too.
    Thank you fastdiet1115.

Homemade vegetable soup is our staple meal. We have it for dinner on normal days and for our evening meal on fast days. Works a treat.

I use whatever veg is fresh and cheap on our local market. Start by frying an onion in a little olive oil. Add any combination of carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, celery etc, etc. Top up with vegetable stock and simmer for 25 mins. Blend with a stick blender, leaving a few chunks. You can add lentils, beans, tiny pasta anything you like. Just make sure it is quite watery on fast days. Enjoy!

I skip breakfast, have a packet cuppa-soup for lunch (roughly 100kcal). I tend to go fish (baked salmon with Cajun spices or king prawns) with stir fry veg with soy sauce. This normally comes out at around 350kcal leaving me 50kcal for a hot chocolate before bed to make me feel full.

Oh to add I also find a baked sweet potato and something (normally fish or chicken ) to also be great. Baked in skin with salt on they are delicious and a small baked sweet pot + small fish fillet + spinach with a little toasted garlic is really rather nice!

I’m on week 4, trying to stick to 500 cals a day, and I tend to have:

    Breakfast:
Small pot of zero fat natural Greek yoghurt with 30g of frozen mixed berries
    OR
1 boiled egg mashed onto a Ryvita

    Lunch:
Half a carton of vegetable soup (not sure where you are but in the UK the New Covent Garden fresh soups range is great) with 2 x Ryvita (no spread)

    Dinner:
2-egg omelette (fried in low-cal cooking spray)
About a finger-size chunk of low-fat Feta cheese
A tablespoon or so of microwaves frozen leaf-spinach

    For a snack, sugar-free jelly is great, or a corn-cake or rice-cake.
