  • Hi everyone……. need a little advice please.
did my 1st Fast Day yesterday and felt I got through it ok, what I’d like to know please is; the app that tracks my calorie count DEDUCTS any exercise that I do; so, for example; On my NON FAST days, I’ve set my daily goal to 1600cal and say I eat 1000 cal and then exercise and burn off 500, the app tells me I can now eat the extra 500cal….is this right or should I be ignoring the exercise??
    any advice welcome!

    thank you

    Hi stuey and welcome:

You do not eat back the ‘extra’ calories. Your TDEE includes exercise, so you will be overeating if you do. Another problem with these kinds of apps is that they do not measure ‘extra’ calories burned by the exercise. By that I mean if the app says you burned, for example, 200 calories by walking, that is not an extra 200 calories. You would have burned, say, 100 calories anyway even if you sat in a chair for an hour. So if you ‘eat back’ 200 calories, again, you are overeating. Finally, the apps are not very accurate and often seem to overestimate the number of calories burned, and many that rely on their numbers gain weight and then wonder why.

    Good Luck!

Thank you for your quick reply………. I had a sneaky feeing that would be the answer, so I guess I may have over done it today!! 🙁

what should be my recommended daily intake for NON fast days? I’m male / 5’6″, pretty active workwise and swim 40 lengths twice a week, some squash.

I’ve currently set my goal to 1600cal…is that realistic do you think??

thanks again for your good advice
    best wishes

Click on “how it works” at the top of the page and work out your TDEE, which is the maximum you should have on non fast dayys.

    thank you
