  • i find the mindset of just not think about or having to deal with food on a fasting day preferable to sticking to 600 cals.
I havent heard or read anywhere that this isn’t a good idea or undermines the principle of the fasting diet.
Does anyone have any info on this?
    thanks

As far as i know Dave on fast days your 600cals is the most your allowed to eat so if you cope with not eating anything then thats fine im sure i read on this somewhere that its fine not to eat at all

Yep – totally fine not to eat or drink any calories at all Dave. There are a fair few 5:2ers doing this. There are also some 5:2ers that do consecutive fastdays rather than splitting them up in the week – each to their own. Just do what works for you.

I’m so glad I read this post. I started the 5:2 diet 7 days ago and have done 3 fasting days so far. Last night I had to force myself to finish a 350 calorie meal even though I had only eaten about 250 calories 6 hours beforehand. In future I’ll just eat “up to” my 500 calorie allowance as I feel like.
