  • Hi there. I have been doing 16:8 for a while and have now added in 2 – 3 fast days each week. I am finding it easier to fast on a work day as plenty to keep me busy, however we have a “compulsory 1 hour lunch break”. I usually go out for a walk for 30 mins, then have my lunch. On a fast day I would like to eat half my calories (up to 250) during the second half of lunch time, then have a small meal in the evening as well. However! I have read it is better to fast as long as possible and just have one larger meal in the evening, trying to get in at least a 24 hour period of fasting. This is apparently much better for weight loss (one of the reasons I am following this lifestyle). Does anyone have any opinions or experiences of when it is easier or best to eat on a Fast Day? Has it made a difference to you?

I unfortunately have no answer to this as I actually have the same question. 😉 so joining you here to wait for someone with more experience to teeach us!!! 🙂

I find it easier to come up with a nearly 500 calorie meal, rather than 2 smaller meals. This way of eating is flexible. If you want to divide up the calories into two even parts, go ahead and try.

What works for me is to have coffee with almond milk during the day – maybe up to 60 calories, a small dinner of protein and veggies, and top the day off with decaf coffee, fat free/sugar free hot chocolate and almond milk.

Most of my calories are at the end of the day.

This helps with the losing weight part. Some folks contend that completely fasting – i.e. tea and water only – for 24 hours a couple times a week is good for the body as far as the unseen benefits. I have a hard time doing that.

Hi GerryStar… lets see what others think! Starting to think its probably what works best for you. Its the culture to eat at lunch time at work and so this might be the lesser of the two evils than trying to fast at home (with the fridge calling my name).

Thanks Amy C. Good to get advice from people much more experienced in managing. Seems like there are lots of low cal filling options, too.

Hi ,I have just started the diet having my first fast day on Monday,I had done it before last year but was not very good as if I eat breakfast I was starving all day so tempted. This time I decided to leave all my calories until evening & was not hungry at all so think thats the way for me to go.Will update in a few weeks
