  • Hi everyone, I joined the fast last week, I did two days last week and am on my second of this week, the scales shew a two pound loss last week but I bet that’s just having an empty tummy, I will weigh in tomorrow and see if the two stayed off with any additional loss this week. Trouble is I’m starving at the moment :/ – I try and have all my cals for the evening meal on fast days as this makes family life more normal. I have been up since 8 am and I could eat a horse (and I’m vegetarian lol) – how does everyone cope with the constant sicky hunger feeling – and yes I’ve drunk so much I could open a public pool on my bladder! helppppp x

I tend to find that I get really hungry on some starving days, but not others. If I’m really starving I nibble on a bit of celery or cucumber, as these are the lowest caliph things I can think of!! I’ve started drinking green tea too, and this seems to ease it a bit.

    Calorie, even!!!

unfortunately green tea has a nasty effect on me, gives me stinking headaches and a sicky tum. good idea with celery though, anything to take away the rumbles. Have you lost much/ do you feel better since you have been doing the diet?

It is hard at the beginning, I seem to remember but it’s HONESTLY easier the longer you do it, to the point where I can’t remember the last time I was genuinely hungry, as opposed to thirsty or just in a ‘ravenous’ mood (that’s not hunger it’s just compulsion and tends to hit on non-fastdays sometimes).

You need to find your own best way of coping. If you’ve already drunk enough water to sink a battleship then some strategies are: Go for a walk, keep repeating to yourself “I can have that tomorrow” whenever you start thinking about food and I find it actually helpful to plan my meals for my non-fastday tomorrow while I’m fasting. Work it all out, do a calorie count on it, the works. It gives me something to look forward to and literally aim for.

I’m coming up to my 2nd anniversary with this and I still THINK about food on fastdays but it has no physical part to it. I had a weird week this week and couldn’t manage 2 proper fastdays so I did a proper one yesterday and am bookending it with 2 1000 calorie days instead (never done this before). Once you get into this you can set rules for yourself and stick to them because once you’ve sacrificed those calories on that 1 day, that’s it, done! No need to eat just rabbit food for the rest of your 5 days (or 4 this week for me). This is my last (sort of) fastday of the week and I’m already looking forward to the menu for tomorrow. Anticipation of food in the next 5 minutes has been replaced by anticipation of grand plans for food tomorrow.

Another little tip: If you do any fairly heavy exercise on a fastday, have a whey protein shake (or just some milk) afterwards. It’s not very calorie rich (100cals at most) and will knock any hunger pangs on the head until much later on.

Please stick to it. It does get easier. I always think to myself, it’s only one day n tomorrow you can eat what you like. That keeps me going n I get exited at the thought of it lol. Try n keep busy. I eat strawberries if I’m peckish. Doesn’t water fill you up? I find sparkling water is best

I’m about 2 months in now.
I sometimes suffer from the hunger pangs.
I find that when I do I make myself a hot drink and make myself busy.
Do something to take my mind off of it.

I have gotten into a routine where I start preparing my evening meal at about 6pm. I usually have something spicy, tasty and about 500 cals. So I look at the clock and say to myself “only x hours to go”.

I couldn’t save all my calories for evening meal as I know I’d be ravenous. I have eggs for breakfast which really fills me up then have the rest of my cals about 3 or 4pm mad just go to bed early. I don’t get really hungry that way. Yesterday I tried a 2pm-2pm with no food in between and by 10am the next morning I was so hungry I could have ate 5 meals! I personally don’t think it’s good to feel like that especially when I’ve been know to binge eat in the past.

That should read *and not mad 😉

thanks guys, well I’m nearly at eat time whoooopie – I managed the day on tea, water and three grapes! I’m having a tofu stir fry for my dinner….mmmmm food lol – funny thing is now I know I can eat soon I’m not so hungry!!! I shall let you all know if I actually lose anything tomorrow :/

Well done on your fast day 🙂
Hope you enjoyed your tea. You never ate much! I would have been starving by now lol

I’m on my second week too – and not losing: I know why though without even checking – I am over- compensating on non- fast days. However, I am hoping that this is just excitement and that I will settle down to it !!! Also, I am trying different 24 hour periods – and probably should be going for 36 for results especially if I am over- eating in between. But I feel this is experimentation that is personal to me as I need to find a system that works for me and my lifestyle. Very glad I have found the website now as I am sure it will be a great help.

you may want to try spreading out your calories over the day. I find it easier to save all of them for dinner, but everyone is different. Also on your fast days, try to eat foods that are higher in fat and protein, lower in carbs. They keep you full longer. If are trying to wait till dinner and get desperate, eat some broccoli or celery – it takes a long time to eat and but is bulky so it will fill you up with hardly any calories. It also helps a lot to be busy on your fast day. I try to choose a day that I know will be super busy – it goes by faster and you don’t have time to think about food.
