  • Good morning 5:2 ers! Over the weekend I went out and bought the book and after reading it along with all the fab reviews on IF, have decided to give it a whirl. I have had a life long battle with my weight and am desperate to be free from it. I am a classic ” I’ll start again on Monday dieter” so I’m hoping that the 5:2 will fee me from the psychological eating chains that hold me back in life! I do know that I can’t do this without support so if anyone feels the same and would like a 5:2 buddy then please just let me know!

Hello! I’m starting my third fast today. History is the same as yours! Good luck 🙂

    Hi Kate76
I’m in my second serious week. Lost 4lbs in week one. Fast day today, I do breakfast then only liquid until evening, finding it okay. Like you I have tried most diets, really do need to make this one work!
    Good Luck

Hi guys! Great to hear it’s going well for you! I’ll let you know how I get on… Feel excited tbh!!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Best of luck @kate76 – I have had a similar attitude to dieting to yours, until I started the fast diet. I’m only on week 4 so relatively new to this, but it’s definitely working and I’ve lost two pounds for each week I’ve fasted!

Let us know how you get on 🙂

hi and welcome to both of you newbies!!

good luck on your journeys 🙂

    Hi
I am new to this too. Today is my 2nd Fast day, also i need buddies to keep me motivated. I need to loose a lot of weight (again). I have also tried various diets & am not good with weighing & sticking to things. As I coped with 1st day fast I have decided this is going to be the 1 to continue with.

    Good luck to all 🙂

my first day today starting on a fast. so far so good. going to try and keep up with posting to keep me motivated! always do better when documenting weight loss. also going to use my fitness pal app to aid in calorie counting!! good luck all.

Thank you to everyone that’s replied to my post. Great to know there’s support here when I need it and who knows, maybe I can help others along the way. 🙂

    Hi Kate,

Like you I am just starting out so really full of enthusiasm for some really positive results. Keep me posted on your progress.

    Good luck.

    Craig

Will do if I can work out how Craig! Haha! Good luck to you!

Hey Kate, am also starting today. So far so good… 😉 hehehehe (though I appreciate that at 3.56pm on the first day of a new eating regime I’d have to be pretty pants to have screwed it up already…)
Am going to give the whole fast exercise thing a go too, starting as of tomorrow. I read the fast diet book last night, and was immediately sold on the whole thing (I had (of course) heard about it and (to my shame) just dismissed it as a bit of a gimmick thing – I had NO IDEA of the far reaching potential health benefits). So I figured there’s no no time like the present and decided to start with a fast day today. Oops this looks like an overly long post. Only just signed up to the forum a few minutes ago so my forum etiquette probably needs work… 😉

I am a newbie as well since January 31st and am on my second fast day. I am trying to go without eating from 10 pm last night to 6 pm today — not exactly 24 hours. My husband likes to eat dinner with me, so dinners are what is included. I will keep the food to 500 calories today.

I am eating less than what I want really on the off days, which really accelerates the weight loss. I have lost 6.3 pounds in 2 days. My plan is to up the calories on the non-fasting days to slow the weight loss down a bit.

I am combining Atkins, Cross Training, 9 miles of easy biking and 5:2 eating strategy.

I like the fast days as it lets me know I can go hungry for a day and not lose it.

Hi kate.. im a newbie to the 5:2 diet as well… ive only been doing it for 2 weeks but have lost 7lbs already…. good luck with starting your 1st week x

Hi Kate – I started on Thursday 6th Feb which was my first fast day… today is my second and I’m delaying have my first meal as long as I can! Just sipping on black tea with a slice of lemon and being open to exploring the hungry feelings. I’m 150lbs and would like to be 136lbs so a stone to lose. But I am much more motivated by the health benefits particularly as my family history of heart disease is appalling. Am reading Fast Exercise at the moment so will start to build that into my daily routine too. Bit of a adventure and am keeping an open mind as I see how my body reacts. Great to read everyone’s posts – very motivating! Sarah

    Hi
I’m starting fasting for second time having given up after a few slow weight loss weeks in October. I’m 168 pounds and I want to get to 150. I’ve been dieting for twenty years on and off and I’m sure my metabolism is wrecked. I tend to get to high 150s and veer off course sabotaging my own efforts. I no longer believe I will get to goal weight and that hope gone is so utterly disheartening. Would be great if this fasting approach could give it back to me cause not sure how many ‘starting again’ days I have in me.

    Onwards and downward hopefully

    Hello All,

I started my first ever fast day last Wednesday (5th) and am on my second today. I’ve had a nice breakfast, kept to fluids during the day and had a nice tea.

Bit of a tip I’ve found is having a nice big mug of Bovril half way through the day at only 10 calories! It tastes nice and savoury 🙂

Hope you’re all doing well. Gem x
