Not sure about a ‘search bar.’ Usually, one shoots a question out to the ether and someone answers.
As for quorn, I’ve never eaten it and spell-check just changed it to ‘quoin’…..
My rule of thumb for how to choose foods is this: high protein, low calorie, low carb. Does quoin fit? I’m guessing its a carb and we don’t eat many carbs on Fast Days.
Goo luck on your weight loss journey, Divergraham.
Divergraham,
The search function has been missing for a few days so I’ve just sent an email to: tech@thefastdiet.co.uk to see if they can restore it.
There is no fixed rule about what you eat on a FD, although most people find it easier to fast if they don’t eat a lot of starchy carbs. I usually have a little dairy, a little solid protein and heaps of veg. Friends of mine that are vegetarian use quorn instead of meat so I imagine a small portion combined with veg would be fine.
JJ from site tech support let me know they they are working on a new search function for this site but don’t know when it will be available.
If anyone needs to search this site while its search function is missing you can make google do it for you.
Go to google advanced search:
https://www.google.com/advanced_search
Enter your search parameters, then where it asks for “site or domain” copy the link from the homepage of the site you want to search. In this case it would be https://thefastdiet.co.uk/
Apart from any ads which google will still put at the top of the screen all of the genuine search results will be only for this site.
I think plain quorn would be an excellent choice- high protein, low fat etc but you need to check the values for some of the products e.g. the quorn which is like chicken tikka.
Try looking at the website ‘my fitness pal’ which has the nutrient breakdown of just about every food known to man. It’s free and I use it to track all my food and drink.
Good luck with your regime, Divergraham.
I suggest eating whatever you like, as long as the total fits into your daily total for fast days. (500 or 600 calories) Most fresh steamed or microwaved vegetables give you a lot of bulk for few calories. Legumes can be higher in calories but contain a lot of fiber which is filling. Lots of us eat soups because they’re filling. Quorn is fine, just keep track of the calories.
I think most of us end up settling into certain things we like and eating them every fast day. Most important is finding a combination that is satisfying to you and keeps you reasonably hunger free. The only thing I would suggest is to stay away from high sugar/low fiber foods. They seem to make me more hungry an hour or so after eating.
Good luck with the 5:2 plan, Divergraham. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.
