  • A little bit about me and my history with the 5:2 diet.

Hi, I started this diet around 2 years ago and was very successful. I was 6lb off my goal and got my BMI to 24. Then for whatever reason, I stopped and slowly but surely gained weight. Over the last year I have gained 1st 7 lb (21 lb) and feel miserable.

The last 5 months I have started back on 5:2 with no success as haven’t been as dedicated to it or found it as easy as before. I either crack on the fast days or go overboard on the non fast days. Then when I do it properly I either do not lose or lose 1lb so I stupidly go off plan and gain more weight.

How I done the diet last time is to fast two days a week (no particular routine) and have 4 non fast days counting calories and not having more than my BMR calorie recommendation (the TDEE is too high for me), and each Sat night have a day I do not count any calories and have a real treat day or night.

This worked for me for approx a year and a half and would like to do it again, so I am thinking of starting with 4:3 to kick start it.

I have joined to get tips, advice and encouragement.

I am on a FD today (sun 11 June) and want to do a 4:3 week!

Hello YoyoD and welcome!!! There are lots of forums here and plenty of friendly support – you might like to join in on the June 2017 Challenge (even though we’re almost half way through the month). It’s a great community! How did your FD go?

Hi! I saw the june challenge but given we are half way through I thought I would wait and see if there is another I can get involved in.
It went well, I find it easier to do when I am off I think that is why I was so successful last time was because I only worked part time and now I am full time I find it difficult. The difficult part for me is when I return home at 6 pm, sort out my 3 year old for bed for 7 then cook after that I am so hungry I usually cave and eat a snack going over my 500 cals and then I throw the towel in.
However, yesterday was a success so I am motivated by this. The next FD for me will be Tue and Thur.
How about you? How long have you been doing it and bow successful have you been?

Hi, it’s my first day as well! Got a holiday booked for the beginning of August and need to lose as much as possible before then. Thinking about doing 4-3 for a couple of weeks whilst my motivation is high!

    Hi Jacquidan!
    How are you getting on?
I am on my 3rd fasting day this week and it hasnt been that bad. I done Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday as my fast days and found them quite easy to do. It appears my motivation is back, it is funny the effect an impending holiday can have on you!
