  • Week 1 and I feel I should be flying, full of enthusiasm.
    Found it harder than expected.
    Day 1 so tired by mid afternoon I ate a larger than anticipated meal.
    Rather than losing heart I decided to ease myself in with 800 day ‘fasts’ gradually working down to 500 calories, reducing 100 calories per week.
    Has anyone else done this?
    Any tips or help appreciated.

    I did start eating more than 500 calories on a fast day, probably between 600 – 700. As I got used to 5:2 I was able to work out what suited me and for most of the last 18 months I had under 400 calories on fast days.

    You’ll work out what suits you, and making 5:2 fit into your life in a sustainable way is the central thing, so all power to you. Even if you stay with 800 calories on fast days, that is okay!
