  • Hi everyone
I am 50 year old male bmi 56%. I am just starting the 5.2 diet (week2).Can I do more fast days than 2 per week? I am finding it vigourating on the fast days and it seems to be helping loose weight. In last 12 months I have lost 25kg but stagnated and struggled not to overindulge in high calories and fat junk food at some stage most weeks A fast diet helps me avoid these foods. I realise it’s only week 2 but while I am motivated and enjoying the fasting days can I take advantage of this. Thanks for any advice. I should add I have been morbidly overweight most of my adult life.

Congratulation on your progress until now!

    My answer on another thread:

    2 sides of the coin:
    1. more fasting days = bigger caloric deficit on a weekly basis
    2. more fasting days = more stress to the body (stress = cortisol = hunger). Bigger (weekly) caloric deficit = stronger hunger in general, harder fast days, risk of overeating / binge eating in your non-fast days. And you could lose the caloric advantage of more fasting days.

So you have to test it for yourself.

If I were you, I would try intermittent fasting in non-fast days. 2-3 meals a day in a 6-8 hours eating window.

    Good luck!

Adaline thank you for your advice.
