  • Hello everyone from Canada.
Yesterday was my first day on the FastDiet. I have opted for two meals with no snacks. Drank lots of herb tea and water during the day. I did experience a headache which started around lunch but went away after I ate dinner. At first I thought it may have been caffeine withdrawl but perhaps not. I must say that I had no problems with the fast at all. I stuck right to the 500 calorie amount but ate lots of protein and never felt hungry at all.
I simply had to weigh myself this morning and had lost 1 1/2 pounds. However, my scale also shows body fat percentage and that had increased 1%. I am assuming that my the end of the week this will all sort itself out as I am sure that I will gain back a good portion of that weight loss today. Would appreciate any comments from women with similar results so I know I am on the right track. Cheers.

    Hi tuppence and welcome:

You really can’t tell if you are on the right track after one day. It sounds like you did just fine on your first diet day, but you won’t know for a month or two how you are doing on the diet. Many find it is what they eat on their non diet days that impact their results the most!

The average weight loss on 5:2 is about a pound a week. Greater early losses are usually losses of water weight and food in transit weight. As an aside, body fat indicators on scales have been tested extensively and found to be both inconsistent and inaccurate. So you really can’t judge your progress with their measurements.

Headaches are common. If you drank enough, then they are usually caused by a salt deficiency as salt is flushed out of the body with the water weight.

Here is most of the information you will need to get the most out of 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!
