  • A friend recently told me about the 5:2 idea and it sounds like something that I could really achieve. I weigh significantly more than I should (looking to lose around 15st) so I’m worried that the diet won’t work for me.

I’ve had success in the past with calorie restriction daily using MyFitnessPal and lost over 2st in 6 months. The issue was keeping that weight off. A holiday away and a lapse meant it all went back on.

Do you think intermittent fasting will allow me to achieve my goal? I’m aware it may take a number of years but if it’ll work then I’m willing to try.

Yoyo23, 5:2 is really a lifestyle change in the guise of a diet. Once you learn how this way of eating works for you, you can slip in and out of fasting as you need. My biggest take away is that hunger is temporary. In addition to reading 5:2, you will learn a great deal by reading Dr. Jason Fung’s The Obesity Code. Understanding why fasting works more than daily calorie restriction is critical.

Yes, you can do this. Start today.

    Thanks K-Lo!

I’ve just started reading the book and it really makes sense to me. I’ll take a look at Dr. Fung’s book too.

Excited to give this a go and hopeful that the weight will stay off.
