  • Hello everyone

So, I’m here to give this a real good go, I really need to lose around 2 stone and keep it off, I’ve known about this way of life for the past couple of years but never really given it a decent shot, I’ve been pretty active all my life, playing football and martial arts and recently going to the gym and obstacle course races, since giving up smoking a few years back I put on weight which I cant seem to keep off, I seem to yoyo a lot. This year was supposed to be the year I lost the weight and started training more in the gym and running again, unfortunately a foot injury kept me from training in January and then in Feb I had lower back problems, turns out I have a herniated disc after an MRI scan (L5/S1) It’s gradually getting better but all the exercise I can do at the moment it walking 🙁

I’m trying this as I feel until I can start training again (6 months?) the only way to lose the fat is in the kitchen, and after reading a few blogs and stories on here I’ve decided to do it properly.

I was 12st on Sunday just gone and Monday was my first 500 calorie day, I didn’t plan it out very well, which was a mistake, but I managed it and didn’t really feel too bad, then Tues and weds I kept under my TDEE, so today was day 2 of fasting, I planned it all out, but by 11.30am I was feeling light headed and was so hungry, so the plan went out of the window, fortunately I managed to eat around the 550 calories mark now and I’m feeling ok. I’ve probably burnt around 400 calories with walking today. I cheated and weighed myself Tuesday and I had 4lbs off already, but I know that can change and not counting that 😀

Anyway sorry to mumble on a lot, its not very interesting.

I was wondering what calories people ate on non fast days and if the light headedness is just a temporary thing whilst your body gets used to the change, and what you do when you struggle and get hungry?

    Hi Eat and welcome:

You might try eating a bit more salt for the lightheadedness. It generally goes away as the body adapts to the new way of eating. Here are some tips: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Hi eat2live – I too enjoy doing the obstacle course races although I cannot run, it’s still fun. This time, I’m actually training for one, want to build up my upper strength and leg muscles. It sounds like your off to an excellent start!

The light-headiness was temporary for me although I didn’t experience it significantly – agree with sim about the salt. This week marks the end of my 1st month on this plan. I have lost 4.8lbs. Right now I am not tracking my calories on non-fast days but will if I hit a plateau or start gaining.

    Hope your injury heals quickly!
