I admit that I am a zombie when it comes to doing things, when someone I know does something that sounds interesting, I jump right in and do it myself. A co-worker of mine told me he was going to try intermittent fasting eating for 8 hours a day and fasting for 16 hours after the last meal. He said that he read that it will help you lose fat not muscle, help with cravings, and you didn’t have to change the way you eat to do it. This sounded like something that would be good for me with my weight going back up after my weight loss, so I decided to try it that day and didn’t eat until 2 pm that same day as that would be my 16 hour mark. I kept thinking about it all day and decided to investigate it more because I wanted to know how it would affect me being a woman, if women would have a harder time than men. What I read gave different answers good and bad and I decided to keep trying anyway. Eventually I came across the 5:2 plan the same night and decided to give it a try the next week, but stick to the 16 hours of fasting each day.
For 2 days after I started, I had horrible headaches but stuck with it, along with during the first week doing a 4:3 plan just to see if I could do it. I did it the first week eating 500 for the 3 days, normally for the rest and lost 2 pounds that week. I have cut back to the 5:2 for the past 6 or 7 weeks I have been doing this and I admit that I have not been eating like I should on my regular eating days, but still fasting for 14-16 hours, but I have lost 7 pounds, my skin has even cleared up, and I feel much better about myself even on those days when I go over my 500 calories even when I know I shouldn’t or when I didn’t do any fasting at all. My experience I will say I think is a positive one, there were days when I didn’t think I would stick to it, but I made myself get back on track and felt even better for getting back on track. I hope for those out there just starting like I did over a month ago that you have a postive experience as well. Good luck to all.
