  • I quite surprised myself yesterday. It was my usual Fast Day and about 18 hours into it one of my dogs started weeing blood.
Over the afternoon he started dripping blood all over the kitchen floor and the lounge carpet.
Bundling him into the car, I took him to the Vet in the local town 20 miles away and once there we went through quite a traumatic hour or so as he got a number of catheters and flush outs etc etc.
It is possible that this is a more serious follow up of something that happened to him 3 years ago, but he is home again and on medication for a week to see how he does.

It wasn’t until we were back home that I realised that we had driven passed all the usual shops where I used to stop and buy my Mars Bars, Kit Kats and other goodies that I used to think were a necessary part of any car journey.
Fasting fairly focuses the mind and helps my concentration.

I find when something bad happens I tend to lose my appetite completely. I went through something similar last year with a sick old doggie whose nose wouldn’t stop bleeding one Sunday. Going to the emergency vets isn’t fun (or cheap) and I couldn’t even think of food at a time like that.

I hope your dog’s doing better now and has a good long life ahead.

He passed some large stones this morning so it is a repeat of the problem of 3 years ago, only much worse.
He will probably get operated on this coming Wednesday.
The last time he got this op, they removed 36 stones from a bladder that is less than the size of a golf ball.

Oh well, fingers and paws crossed.

Dogs what can I say we go through everything imaginable with them and then some. I’d go through every bit of it again too though. The good times and company are so much. Here’s hoping all goes well

Fortunately mine are not quite in the 85lb league;-
