  • Hi guys, can anyone help me with this please. I’m 10 days or so into my 5:2 plan and it’s going well so far. 1lb lost so far, but I am in it for the long haul and so will be very patient.

My question is this. My average calorie intake over the last 7 days (including fast days) was 1290 which is below my BMR (which is about 1390 kcal). On my fast days I averaged about 550 calories and on my non fast days about 1700. My TDEE value is about 1900 calories.

I am below my TDEE and above my BMR on non-fast days and more or less sticking to the 500kcal recommendation for fast days, so does it matter if my average is a bit low?

    Hi Sherbert:

Doing 5:2 properly requires that you do 5/600 cal. or less on diet days and TDEE or less on non diet days. Aside from that, there are no requirements. There is no problem with eating or averaging below your BMR for a day or a week or a month or a year.

The less you eat, the more you lose.

Here are some tips that might help: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!
