  • Hi. I started 5:2 late December probably not the best time to start, my weight went up and down over Christmas but managed to come out at the same weight 75.5 that I started on which I was really happy with. I have been serious for the last few weeks and managed to get to the 73.5 mark after doing 5:3 but I had a bad weekend and have gone back to 75.5 today !!!
    Any suggestions please?

Oh forgot to mention it was only Sunday that I was naughty cal came in at 2000!! On my NFD I’m 1200 or less and always under 500 on FD.

Try not to stress. This has happened to us all at some time. The weight is most likely water weight and will drop off in a couple of days, probably just after your first fast day. I had a couple of drinks and a high carb meal last night with friends and the scale shows a 3lb gain overnight, this has happened before and I know obviously I didn’t have 10,500 calories and the weight will drop off in the next 2-3 days. A lady in one of the forums I’m in recently went on a fabulous biking trip but came back 4 lbs heavier. She was really stressed over it but the weight dropped off within a few days back at home and doing 1 fast day.

Stick with it and happy fasting!

I seem to go up and down like a yoyo but it is about the trend overall which is still downwards. Keep at it, from what I’ve see it does work but patience is essential. Have a look at this:

If you “busted” by 800 cal then the 2 kg weight gain has to be water retention and to put it as nicely as I can faeces that has yet to work its way out of the system. Fat contains 9.3 cal per gram. So if you went over by 800 cal then that’s 800/9.3 = 86 grams of real fat weight that you put on, not 2 kg. Hope that makes you feel better?

That’s a helpful little calculation, big Booty!
