  • Hi everyone.
I have only started this diet yesterday. What prompted me was a documentary about losing weight the healthy way. the programme took a group of people and placed them on diets, crash diets, long term healthy eating etc. Anyway the 5:2 Diet seemed to work really well and it was the only one that stood out to me so I thought why not.

Well yesterday was my first fast day and I went over the 55cals by 547,,,I feel bad

    Help

    Hi Seefood and welcome:

It is hard to start a diet when you may not know much about how it works. Here is most of the information you need to succeed with 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

Hang in there – it gets easier.

    Good Luck!

    Seefood,

Are you saying you went over your “500” calories by 47 or by 547? I don’t think going over by 47 is going to hurt a lot, might just slow the progress a little. Going over by 547 and you might not see too many benefits at all.

Day 1 and going over by a few calories would barely have an effect – this will be such a shock to the system.

Good for you for just taking the first step. Don’t feel bad.

    Hi guys
Thank you for your words of inspiration.
I have suffered from IBS for the lasr 15 years. I’m hoping to use this diet to sort out my system.too.

Tomorrow is a fast day and for some reason I am quite looking forward to it.

One thing I will say is that it os rather hard to find the correct calories for indian food specially when made at home.
    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi Seefood,
I also have the problem of working out calories of homemade foods and I have found that near enough is good enough. I concentrate on soups for Fast Days. I avoid calorie rich foods (fats, nuts) and stick to lean meat and vegetables and eat only small amounts.
The first couple of times I wrote down what I ate and did my best to look up the calorie content. Once I got the sense I was pretty right, i just kept doing the same thing.

On non fast days I just concentrate on eating delicious healthy foods, and try to listen to my body about how much I eat and how often.

Good luck to you and best wishes.
