  • I am 46, overweight stay at home Dad. I plan on trying a fasting day as a trial. If no one dies at the end of that day I plan to keep it going.

I have exercised my whole life but, my son is keeping me from the track and the couch is taking over. The thing that has worked best for me has been counting 1500 calories a day. But that has become quite tiresome and, well, liquor seems to get in the way.

I didn’t mention that I am also mostly Vegan and living in New Orleans. Yeah its going to be tough, let’s see how that first crucial day goes tomorrow.

Friends and fellow fasters are welcome to post.

    Hi valdus and welcome:

Here are some tips to help make 5:2 successful for you – the ‘Warnings’ post talks about dying: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Oh I meant, I’m not sure if anyone ELSE is at risk. My mood swings with hunger and lack of sleep. But we shall see.

It became both better and worse so far. Some moments of furious monster hungry and emptiness, where the baby cried juuuuust a bit louder than he had on other days, then strange second winds where I cleaned the house and straigtened things with remarkable quickness.

Thus far two slices of low cal bread and ONE tablespoon of peanut butter (and let me tell you the smallest thing in the world is a true tablespoon of peanut butter!) and a bowl of broccoli with spicy salt sprinkled over it.

Think this may actually be possible, though I cannot imagine a 4:3 regiment.

PS: I used to teach and I cannot imagine at all doing this while teaching. I think I would have written a million detentions today!

Curious, fasted yesterday, feel very very energetic today. Did not overeat, did not gorge, did not feast as I thought I would. I think I just may do this again on Thursday. I presume that is the classic schedule for the 5:2 diet.

That’s pretty much it, Valdus. Easy.

I’m a 44 year old male almost-vegan with a fondness for booze too.

Heron friend me and we can fast and booze.

Day after fast appetite was normal, infact subnormal. Did good, real good.

2 days after the fast I sense and feel I ate too much, attracted to carbs. Had soba noodles, tofu AND falafal for lunch with veggie burgers and pita for dinner It just seemed and felt (full) like too much. It was as if my body or mind suspected that another fast was coming the next day.

Today it is noon and I have had 90 calories. It feels good, enjoying the fasting delirium and the endorphins that feel like they are being released.

Still have not weighed myself, want to see a difference before I do. I can feel the scale staring at me.

    Comments, advice is welcome.
