  • Hi everyone I am just about to start 5-2 dieting so finding this site is great. I have had a quick read of your posts and you are all so supportive of each other, it’s lovely. My daughter is getting married next year and I so want to look good.
I am 61 and try to eat healthy and I walk usually at least on hour most days with my german shepherd but the weight does not move. I am aiming to fast saturday and tuesday. Any tips on how to keep the hunger at bay at the start?

    Hi amber and welcome:

At the start, you have to learn to live with hunger – there is no way to eat only 500 or fewer calories for a day and not be hungry. After you get used to it, hunger sort of ‘goes away’ and you don’t think of it. Many end up eating nothing on their diet days without any hunger problems.

So the way to deal with hunger is to ‘get through it’ until it no longer is bothersome. Here are some tips that will help you be successful with 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Good luck Amber on reaching your goal for your daughters wedding.

Keeping to the fast days does gets easier. Just keep busy and away from food…think it’s non negotiable for two days…..we ( hubby and me) keep away from social events and say we are busy and go a different day!

We have breakfast and dinner…it gets quite nice to have a meal off no thinking of cooking and food. You could easily loose 30lbs in 4/5 months if you keep positive.

Look on the forum through the groups and see which one suit you and get on board with a message, they really help and keep you on track. You will find them very friendly.

    Keep going…

    Hi Amber,

Simcoeluv is right, there’s no magic bullet to keep you from being hungry sometimes. You just have to want to lose the weight badly enough to stay strong and say no to the temptations.

German Shepherds are my favorite breed; really great dogs. I don’t have one right now, but I have a rescue Black Lab mix and his head and ears look like a shepherd’s so he could have some German Shepherd in him.

I wish you great success with your weight loss.

    Bronx
