  • Hi all, I’m a 6ft Male 18 stone 8lb/260lb 43yr old, tried exercise and my weight not moving at all, so I’m trying this 5-2 and so far over 2 weeks lost 6lbs, is this just water or am I losing fat and is just a case of keep on going as I am or do I need to change things to keep it going, I need to lose approx 3 stone, any advice would be great, thanks

    Hi,

Sounds as if you are doing it all right. You will loose some water at the beginning and 6 lb is great. Keep going as you are although it will slow down a bit, my hubby usually slows down to 2 lb a week sometimes 1 but over about 4/5 months we got 30 lbs off.
Unfortunately after double knee surgery and after three years our weights crept back on but it’s our first week back 5.2 and it will have to all come off again ….quite upsetting……back to eating big portions of food, bad habits and greed!

Good luck you will get there, keep looking on the forum it motivates you. Remember take your waist measurement once a month and keep a record…see it melt away!!!!!!!

    Hi minerican and welcome:

The large initial weight loss is mostly water weight. The average fat weight loss over time is about a pound a week – including the initial weight loss – so that means you will have some weeks where you lose little or no weight. Regardless, just keep doing the diet properly and you will lose just fine.

This thread gives you most of the information you need to be successful with 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/. Most common questions are answered on the thread, so you might check it whenever you don’t understand what might be going on (like ‘I did everything right and did not lose weight!’).

    Good Luck!
