  • Live in Newcastle, Australia. Currently 43yo and weigh 86kgs which is what I weighed when at full-term pregnancy!!! Am even more devastated because in Sept 2012 I won a body transformation competition at 58kg!!!
I have had a tough 18months… Losing my Dad and finding myself in an increasingly psychologically abusive relationship which saw me attempt suicide Oct 4th, 2014. I have spent a lot of time in a 5-star psych unit where the food was amazing… And the weight kept creeping up and up! I am hoping the 5:2 is the answer for me. It was actually suggested to me by my psychiatrist! Fingers crossed!!!

Hi Jen, welcome here. I am sorry you have been through such a hard time. I do hope you find 5:2 helps. It is good knowing this sort of fast is connected to a lot of long term health benefits. My aim is to make it an ongoing way of life.
Plenty to read on the site, and you can find YouTube clips that might be useful too.
I like to plan what I will eat on a fast day so I don’t have to make food decisions on the day.
Have you decided when you might start?

    Jen,

Sorry to hear of your struggles. I’ve found that if food is prepared for me I tend to eat more than if I prepare my own meals. Gaining weight in your situation is certainly understandable.

I wish you great success with 5:2 and your second round of body transformation.

    Hi Jen

This is a great place for you to be to tackle that 25kg. A few here, including myself, are on the same journey.

If 25 kg sounds daunting, cut this particular pie into pieces, then the road won’t look so long. My original target was originally 24kg (weight was 91kg), I’m almost at 20, and I moved the goal post months ago to 30kg. Into my 10th month, it will take well over a year. A long time, but the journey has been most enjoyable, and totally worthwhile, so don’t be put off !!!

Good luck and know you are not alone.
