  • Hi,

I have just started this today and i about died when i weigh myself i have been dreading this part for a while and always avoid if i can. I have tried other diets and nothing seems to work with me.

I am hoping that this works for me.

I have a few questions that need answering and i hoping that i can be pointed in the right direction.

On a Fast day i read that u can have 500 cals, i have ordered the soap and main meal to start me off in the right direction, what would you guys drink, tea/coffee, water? and would u eat anything in-between this like fruit, or a small breakfast like wheatabix or porridge? please let me know as my mum has started this also and we are doing this together for support and encouragement.

    Thank u

    Hi claireg and welcome:

Most people find that eating one meal in the evening that is high in fat and protein works best. Carbs (fruit, porridge) tend to make you hungry, fat and protein don’t.

Here is basic information that will help you both with 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

    Hi Claireg!

I think 5:2 does work for people that can’t stick to the more traditional “every day cutting calories” diets.

I love to drink coffee (caffeine free at night), lots of green tea and sparkling water. I will also drink some broth during the day if I’m struggling (or my stomach is growling). Personally, I have a small lunch (200 calories) and then a frozen dinner (300 calorie) around 6:00 pm. This has worked for me and I can’t seem to make it all the way to dinner without some calories.

Let us know you are doing 🙂

Thank you everyone for you replies, today is my first day fasting, i have tried the soup and main meal from here they are very nice, tasty and filling, but this is the time where i normally go for a snack so struggling slightly, but i think giving a week or so and i will get past that stage im sure.

Will keep you posted and let u know how im doing.
