  • Hi everyone!

After watching the documentary Eat Fast Live Longer last Sunday, I decided to give the 5:2 diet a try. So yesterday I only ate about 560 calories (I do CrossFit regularly, so I chose the ‘moderately active’ option and divided my TDEE by 4).

It was not easy, but I managed. However I found that today, a feed day, I’ve been eating a lot more unhealthy snacks than I do usually. A couple of sugary, processed snacks actually, which I normally don’t really crave. I thought this was quite surprising :s

Anyone else have this experience? Should I be worried? Tomorrow is another fast day, but I don’t want to fall into a pattern of fast day – binge day 🙁

    Hi Hanne,
Welcome here. I am not sure how common that is (but it does make sense!).
I didn’t, in fact Fasting has led me to eat smaller meals and less snacks in between. I must be lucky.

You certainly don’t want to get into Fast/Binge. I think I read that most people who don’t do well with 5:2 have just that problem.

Might it help to plan a good healthy low GI breakfast after your Fast Day, and a sensible lunch and evening meal, (no snacks) and then see what you are like the day after that?

I hope someone who has experienced the same thing will also answer your post. Fingers crossed you can sort it out.
