Brand New Faster – Looking for Advice

  • Ok. I’m brand new at this and wanted a little advice? I’ve made it through week 1, with 2 successful fast days. I have struggled today (Friday’s are tough) at staying within my TDEE, but trying to stay positive. I just wondered whether I am supposed to fast on the same days each week and how everyone manages with social functions? As it was the glass of wine this afternoon that pushed me over my limit. Thanks ☺

    Fast on whichever two days suit you. This diet is the same as any other weight loss method, you need to eat less calories than your body needs so it makes no difference which days you fast if you do it and stick to below your TDEE on other days. If you go over there is no need to panic as you can always make up for it the next non fast day by having a bit less to eat.
    If I’m going to a social function where food is involved I don’t eat anyrhing else on the day, which means I can have a small helping of everything without overdoing it or having to constantly explain why I’m not eating.
    I also alternate wine with a glass of water so I drink less and don’t feel the effects the next day but still get to enjoy a glass or three!
    It is all about finding the best way for you to stick to the plan without it becoming a chore. I’m sure you’ll find a routine that suits you,

    I, too, am new and I have LOTS of questions lol!

    (I fast 3 days 2x per year so this isn’t a new concept to me.)

    Do you count calories on non-fast days or just eat whatever? I’m guessing I need to stay below my TDEE on non-fast days.

    How much can I expect to lose each week if I exercise and follow the diet?

    How long have you been doing it and how much have you lost?

    I don’t count but if I think I’m going over I’ll count then. Today is my Niece’s birthday so ain’t eating till I eat cake and ice cream
