Can I take milk thistle & artichoke capsules during fast for optimal purge?

Not sure how many calories there are in each capsule also wether taking them stimulates metabolism and tricking the brain that it’s taking in calories? Any ideas and feedback is much appreciated.

Just my opinion, but I would simply throw them away. Your metabolism does not materially speed up or slow down with these types of pills and a ‘purge’ is not necessary for 5:2 to work.

Not sure why you have to wait an hour to eat breakfast – the way 5:2 works is you eat your last food of the day, go to bed, wake up, eat 500 cal. during your waking hours, go to bed, wake up and eat your TDEE or less.

I see what you mean about the herbal supplements, it is a grey area. It may just be that I’m experiencing a placebo effect with them but having taken herbal supplements for a few years, I feel my body does benefit from them. But who knows, right? 🙂

I’ve now completed my second consecutive fast day and broke it just before 6pm so to allow a 12h+ before breakfast tomorrow. As of next week though I’ll be doing Monday and Thursdays. I think the hardest part must be over now, I hope.

p.p.s that was meant to read as ‘one hour before breaking the fast’ rather than breakfast by the way, although I suppose the origin of the word “breakfast” becomes much more poignant with this new lifestyle.
