  • Herm,

Glad to hear things are still progressing re: the move!

It’s scary how many similarities there are between our OH’s! I agree, it isn’t deliberate attempts to undermine. It’s us that have changed, not them. And they aren’t pushing unhealthy foods! There’s room for everything as part of a balanced diet…it’s just unfortunate that their particular things no longer suit us.

Fasting, I’ve no idea what a Debby-Downer is?!

Yeah, Happy. It seems like good news re the move.
Maybe we should introduce our respective OH’s. They would probably be very happy together. 🙂

Holding my breath for you Herm 😧

So interesting isn’t it the impact our change in eating habits has on others!

My OH is similar in that he continued to want to pile my plate higher than I want, offers me foods he knows I don’t eat anymore etc etc . Even when I’ve refused he offers again. I’ve often wondered if he is deliberately trying to sabotage me.

He is overweight, European, his whole family carry extra weight and seem to put it on easily. He eats less than me, very rarely having lunch and the rest of his diet is healthy. His downfall I believe is alcohol. He drinks every day, only two glasses he tells me – 2 buckets I reply! No standard drinks there!!

I’m the same as some of you have mentioned, when I have a rich meal now or even just eat more than usual, I feel really genuinely sick afterwards.

Lucky we have each other for support- it’s a mean mean world out there 😊

Herm, very good news about the move. You’ll be so busy the weight will fall off! 😀 We had OH’s brother and new girlfriend for a late lunch yesterday – salads and quiche, with M&S pavlova after. As we hadn’t eaten until 3pm, he wanted toast about 7 and couldn’t believe that I didn’t need anything.

Re effects, the old pain in the area of my appendectomy scar came back. I wonder if it was the meringue.

    Off the tai chi soon.

    Pol. 💁đŸŧ

I wish,Pol. It’s extremely doubtful the weight will fall off any time soon. Even with the fairly dramatic reduction in food intake with 24-hr fasts and 16:8/18:6 windows, I’m stuck on yet another plateau, which could last months. It’s taken me 4 1/2 years to lose 19 kilos.
Having slowly but surely weaned myself off all medications and been nowhere near the quack for several years – apart than a brief visit for a harmless ganglion on my hand for which, the doc told me, the traditional remedy is a good hard whack with a Bible – I’m in the process of arranging a blood test to see what (hopefully positive) effects this WOE has had on blood glucose, cholesterol levels, etc. Regular BP tests carried out twice or three times weekly at home show that my systolic pressure mostly hovers between 105 and 120 and the diastolic between 65 and 75, way, way below it ever was with medication.

Oi! 19kg is no small feat Herm! Don’t put yourself down. â˜ē As long as it stays off, what’s the matter with a plateau? I’m proud of you mate (and think you look fabulous) P

Thanks for your kind words, P. Don’t get me wrong,I’m delighted and proud to have lost 19 kilos and rather like what I now see in the mirror. Is that really me in the skinny jeans? Even so, I’m still apple-shaped and need an elasticated waist, which is why pull-on denim jeggings are a godsend. I now own four pairs.

What bugs me is that it’s taking so damn long, compared with many others who manage to shed that much in a year or so. Part of the reason may be that even as a fatty I didn’t stuff my face with cream buns and pork pies, but ate healthily. Almost certainly the problem was portion size. But the real clincher is, of course, the effect of intermittent fasting, which I shall never give up.

What we have done if Dr M hadn’t popularised IF?

    Hooray for Dr. M!!

A ‘Debby-Downer’ is a person with a negative spin on everything, who throws cold water on other’s good mood. An Americanism.

    19 stones? Fantastic.

Recommendation for wine consumption: 5 oz/day for women. 10 oz/day for men.

I think you’ll find she said 19 kilos not stones! 120.6 kgs is a LOT of weight and Hermaj is only tiny 😊

We would still have been big fat lumps, P. Or maybe not. There are other ways but IF is among the most effective, as it has been for me, and has all sorts of very positive spin-offs that other WOEs don’t have.

It’s interesting, though, that Dr M didn’t initially set out to create a weight loss programme. His initial purpose was, in consultation with other colleagues, to find ways to correct or avoid diabetes and other health issues, and to promote longevity. The weight loss was an unexpected but most welcome side effect.

P is correect. It was 19 kilos, just under 42 lbs or 3 stone. At 19 stone, I would have been as wide as I was high, i.e. 5ft 1in. I was never quite that ginormous, only a baby hippo. 🙂 My average annual loss has been a little over 9lbs. Not exactly a quick fix.

I think Michael Mosley is a saint! This has been painless, after the first month. A re-education rather than a diet and a way of life. I’ve just had breakfast of bran flakes and fruit. Measured portions, of course.

And I’ve broken the potato habit and the custard habit.

I confess the spud continues to be among the relatively few and carefully rationed carbs still on the menu. It’s a once or twice a week treat. I would be very unhappy without it.

Custard is nice but I can live without it, apart, that is, from the wonderful Portuguese pastel de nata, but Lisbon is a long way to go just for a custard pie.

Oh Herm, you have just mentioned my most loved cake in the whole world – the Portuguese pastel de nata!

can’t tell you the last time I had one of those. I Lo ve them!

Herm Ive said before how much I admire your tenacity and determination and I hope you don’t short change yourself in the self-praise department regarding the results you have achieved.

I don’t know if I’ve told you before about a prior weight loss program I embarked on where I hit a plateau and nothing I did shifted any weight. In desperation I consulted a naturopath who diagnosed a number of food intolerances. When I cut those foods out of my diet the weight started to shift.

I know you’ve mentioned a number of food intolerances you have and maybe naturopaths aren’t your thing but just letting you know in case it’s of some use. 😊

I still have potato (a small serve now) once or twice a week. Chips and wedges are a particular weakness! 🍟

OOPS. Stones/kilos — you can tell I’m not a Commonwealth member, can’t you? Sorry for the error. Not implying that you were gigantic. Wonderful work on your weight loss.

Happily I can leave potatoes on the plate. Crisps [your term for potato chips] are another matter. I’ve asked Husband not to eat them in the house for MY sake, since I would Hoover them up. He complies.

Well, now I have to research pastel de nata. Thanks for what I’ll bet will be a diet bender.

Tomorrow we are off for a little 2-night trip and when we return, a party given by friends which is usually described as an ‘Eatathon.’ i stick to the meat and some veg.

Hermaj was NEVER “gigantic”, perhaps cuddly!
You’ll also find most of the world uses the metric system. (the USA seem to be holding out however)
Regarding potatoes….we gave them up 4 years ago. Yesterday, in a desperate need to grow something simple, I planted, seed potatoes. There’ll be no fear of us overindulging however… .last year’s crop only fed 6 people for 1 small salad. The world’s most expensive potatoes, Mr P claims 😑

Good morning, all. Confession – I haven’t completely given up potatoes, but now I have 100 grms of small, new potatoes occasionally. Likewise wedges. The mound of mashed potatoes with loads of vegetarian gravy is a memory.

I’m still cautious about portion size. OH made ratatouille from Mimi’s book yesterday. Strangely it looks like a great lot in the saucepan. 🤔

The U.K. Is probably the only place using stones and pounds to weigh. The stones make clear boundaries, though, so useful. I’m staying around 9.

    Pol. 💁đŸŧ

Carol, thanks for your very kind words but it’s not self deprecation at all. It’s just sheer frustration – and not a little anger – that it is taking me so long to achieve my goal.

Possibly genetic? Maybe. I’m the child of obese over-eaters. To make matters worse I grew up in an age when you were expected to clear your plate or have the leftovers served up at the next meal, possibly with a clip round the ear as garnish. All this stuff about people not being overweight in the 1950s is absolute rubbish. I can remember plenty of fatties, not only a whole bunch of them on both sides of the extended family, but also teachers, other kids, neighbours, friends’ parents, people on telly (and I don’t mean just comedians) – the list goes on.

Only now have I convinced myself that it’s perfectly OK not to eat everything on the plate. Like most kids I used to be told to “think of the poor, starving refugees”. These days, I’m more than willing to support the humanitarian charities ministering to today’s refugees, but me clearing my plate isn’t going to help them one bit.

As far as food intolerances are concerned, as far as I am aware I’m merely lactose intolerant, although I can tolerate dairy in moderate doses. This actually comes in handy as it means I steer clear of all sorts of foods, many of which are of the type to be avoided when trying to lose or control weight. It is also much, much easier now to stay lactose-free than it was when I was first diagnosed, as the range of lactose-free dairy products constantly increases.

While feeling ill after too many carbs of the wrong kind is inconvenient and sometimes unpleasant, it is also useful insofar as you’re less likely to eat stuff like that again any time soon. I don’t think it’s intolerance, or if it is it’s one that I share with quite a few others on this thread.

Finally, even though I am still officially overweight and it would be nice to get a bit closer to the ideal, I look quite good at my current weight, so if all else fails my aim will be to stick there and take care, with the aid of IF, not to return to hippo mode.

    I get it Hermaj! 😊

I thought you would, Carol. 🙂

Absolutely, herm. My OH is still just in the obese range, but he looks so much better and, as I said before, is more confident. Not only were we expected to clear our plates, but I suspect that were said the same to our own children – no pudding unless you finish your dinner!

Our son has put a lot of weight on in the last year. I think the fact that he’s travelling for work a lot and staying in hotels is a big factor. There’s also a good bit if entertaining and being entertained.

    Pol.

Barata, considering it turns out half the Australian Federal parliamentarians are actually Kiwis, and I also have NZ ancestry, do I have to change sides for the Bledisoe? 😑😑 P

Always welcome, P. Especially if you want to support the winning side 🙂

I haven’t entered the conversation about OHs – our main point of argument is his inability to understand that he should drink water! I think his plateau is a result of this, plus beer and softdrinks.

    😁😁

And a sandwich for lunch – ok, only uses one small loaf a week, but………. He also tucked in to bread and the cheeses at wine group last night!

Yes, gods, I had a senior moment or two: I kept saying cerely instead of celery! We have minimal wine, so it wasn’t that! 😊

I’ve just edited my profile to show my goal weight and stomache as my amended, lower target. What a pity there’s not a way to show both. Now, do I celebrate anniversary of original target or do I wait for the one I settled at?
    Pol

Prolly, I celebrate the anniversary of reaching maintenance (although I can never remember date and need to go trolling through archives to see when I joined Maintenance thread!)

I read your profile (hadn’t before) but it doesn’t say anything about goal weight etc as you mentioned.

    Have a good weekend!

Any excuse, Carol! I didn’t know that we could read the profiles of others. Sooooo – I just tapped your name to try and a ‘report post’ link came up. 😱 I admitted to the error, so you shouldn’t be in trouble! đŸ˜ŗ

    Pol

Jeez Purple, I’m struggling today – it so damm freezing here!!!

I’ve had that many cups of hot water and herbal tea I slosh when I walk lol!

Think I’ll go to bed early and put myself out of my misery!

Me too Carol! I’m wearing SO many layers to try to warm up…and both fires going. In the end, I had 3 tom thumb tomatoes and a bit of avacado at 5pm. This weather is just not conducive to fasting, is it? Mind you, there’s plenty of snow for the skiers â˜ē
    Keep warm ⛄☃P

A big hello to all from Cumbria

I have been absent for a while – life just seems to have taken over for a bit and I have been for a staycation in sunny Suffolk with old friends – wonderfully relaxing!

I am happy to report that 5:2 stays very much part of my life and I am a happy maintainer at around 54kg/119lbs/8st 7lbs 💃and also my left knee seems to at last be on the road to recovery – the specialist physiotherapist I saw at the beginning of July did say that ligament injuries can take up to a year to fully recover – I am now heading to 9 months post initial injury!!!

I am one of the evening grazers too and it is one of the harder habits to break!!

It’s summer here but you would not know it at the moment as temperatures today are around 17-19 degrees C so relatively cool

@fasting_me – I am 59y.o, 5ft 4in tall and relatively new to this WOL – starting 5:2 in January 2016 on my own for health reasons and the weight loss was a great bonus – dropped from around 75kg/166lbs/11st 11lbs to around 54kg/119lbs/8st 7lbs and have happily maintained since Dec 2016. My blood cholesterol dropped to just above normal, my asthma is non existent and I have not used any asthma medication for the past 4 months, I have loads of energy and am very active and enjoy life to the full. I too still enjoy cake with coffee a couple of times a week and a couple of glasses 3 or 4 nights a week.
I still do 2 x FD a week and love the feeling I have after a fast day and often go for a 6/8km hike or do an aerobic class in the morning after a FD and don’t break my fast until around lunchtime or even later sometimes. I follow a 16:8 or 18:6 eating window on the other days – I also link into the monthly challenges as this keeps me motivated!!

I agree with all of @happy‘s comments and personally I still do weekly 36/40hr fasting for the long term health benefits and I tend to eat when I’m hungry which is never on waking, so breakfast is never on my agenda wherever I am which seems to upset people – I was staying with a friend recently and she could not understand why I only wanted a cup of tea whilst she ate breakfast and kept apologising for eating in front of me even though I kept telling her it was not an issue for me…….and I refused to eat just for the sake of it!!!!
@carolannfud – Hope your Dad had a fab 95th – I lost my darling mum 3 years ago next month – she would have been 100 on the 7th…..BTW I recently had a Portuguese pastel de nata homemade by a Portuguese friend and thoroughly enjoyed it – I agree with you they are very nice…….

My OH does not follow any fasting but totally understands and supports my WOE – he is a fell runner and a very healthy eater, choosy about his carbs!! does not eat meat eggs or cheese but loves high protein low fat plain yogurts with fresh fruits and loves fish/seafood – huge variety of fruit and vegetables

@hermajtomomi – 1/2 bottle of red wine every day = 3.5 bottles per week which would equate to roughly 35 units of alcohol per week (by the way this equals to around 2200cals!!) so I would say it’s excessive – the NHS recommends no more than 14 units per week on a regular basis……..
Good to hear that the move is still progressing!

I’m not a potato fan but grew on rice so that is my carb 😈 but I restrict this to no more than twice a week sometimes none depending on what I’m cooking – OH likes spelt pasta but I often replace the pasta with spiralized vegetables with the same sauce e.g. oven roasted vegetables, crab….etc

I echo with everyone how empowering this WOL has been for me too – I am constantly amazed to see people eating whilst shopping/walking in the streets….etc where is the enjoyment in that – surely they cannot be that hungry!!!!!!

My sister’s 2 girls are both getting married next year so I will be visiting Melbourne in Australia in January for a short visit and then in April for a longer visit – looking forward to that so much……

I’m off to meet some friends for a coffee and catchup as I have been away from home for the past week r so……

Thanks for confirming what I already believed, AT. But will he listen? Will he buggery! To be fair, he doesn’t drink any wine at all on fast days which brings it down to 2.5 bottles a week. Still too much though. He’s probably adhering to the old number of 21 units for men and 14 for women. Who am I to judge, though? It’s easy for me. Even when I used to partake many moons ago, 6 or 7 a week was my weekly maximum.
All this despite the vast calorie intake, which I also point out, when he grumbles that he’s not losing any weight, although he is only about 500g into the overweight category. Cutting the vino ration by half would probably fix that within a week or two.

Good for you, AT. Lots of wisdom in your letter. Glad your OH is on board: so much easier that way.

You are probably right about the wine, Herma, although once we reached our target weights, my Own Dear Husband decided that wine would be back on the menu for Fast Day dinners. Despite that, I have been maintaining my weight. Together we finish about 2.5 bottles/week. I drink ~5 oz and he drinks ~10 oz. I limit my intake more due to the NIH guidelines on alcohol consumption, rather than worry about calories. What would be the point of adding new brain cells by Fasting, only to kill them with too much drink?!

    Fast Day tomorrow! Enjoy it.

Re wine consumption. …I found that once we lost the weight we couldn’t drink as much. One glass and I get silly. Mr P is a 2 glasser! He thinks it justifies paying more for wine. We drink 5 days a week…often lunch and dinner. Doesn’t effect bloodsugars or weight. P

Good morning, everyone. Strange to hear that Carol and purple are freezing in Australia- even though we know it’s winter, we don’t have the same perception of it getting cold.

Our wine consumption has crept up to two bottle each week – he likes red, I like white. I’m doing fine with maintaining, so is he. Unfortunately he still need to lose a good 10lbs! We don’t drink at lunch time, though. I’d be asleep. Glad you agree it’s not effecting weight, too, purple. I think we do need a treat and it’s better than biscuits or sweets. I still have a Chocolate Orange and Galaxy Counters in the fridge.

Interesting, worrying news this year, that most middle aged people never even walk briskly for as little as 10 minutes a month! No wonder there’s an obesity problem. I know we don’t take enough exercise, but we do walk briskly, everywhere. And these hills around here help.

    Pol. 🍷

Yes, Pol, wasn’t that a distressing statistic about how people don’t walk. 3 miles a day at 3 miles/hour is a good baseline — and it takes only 60 minutes! Time to chat with your walking partner; to listen to birds and learn to ear-bird; time to meditate and let your mind wander. Of course people get out of the habit of walking and it all goes down hill from there! Walking is a good way to maintain weight loss.

Where in England are you, Pol? Not many hills here on Prince Edward island, but the flat-walking is great.
Carol & PPE, just how cold does it get in your winter? In New Hampshire it gets down to -10 degrees Fahrenheit and sometimes lower. How low do you go?

We had 2 good Fasting days this week: I lost 0.6 pounds yesterday and Dear Husband has dropped 4 pounds in 7 days. Hooray! Neighbors over tomorrow for a “4 O’clock” with wine and snacks. The good news is that there won’t need to be dinner afterward. But I will serve dessert. I promised one friend that I’d make her a chocolate bread pudding, so I’m obliged to do so.

    Happy weekend, everyone.

Hi fasting_me, I am in south australia, lower down than Purple. We had +4 degrees one night this week which is very very cold for us! During the day we are currently getting +15-16, but Spring is coming, hooray!

Congrats on your weight loss. I am struggling with maintaining weight loss this week. Having problems with the transit station for some weird reason. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago for a prolapse and nothing has been the same since. Think this issue is just linked with that. Ho hum 😞

Good weekend to all too, mine has just started – 7.13am Saturday as I type this.

Our temps are ranging between 4 and 24 at present. We can reach 40 in summer and a few hours south of us it snows , resulting in icey winds in winter.
Although we don’t get Canadian lows, our houses are not built for cold at all, so we dress like snowmen inside on cold nights. Being ilder and thinner exacerbates the chill.
I think humans have trouble coping with big fluctuations in temperature. We become acclimatised to highs or lows, but not sudden changes. Dropping 10-15 degrees as the sun sets is hard. So is a sudden rise of 10deg when a heatwave suddenly strikes.
    Keep happy maintainers
    P 😊 (Purple Vegie Eater…NOT People Eater! 😉)

Carolann – may I impose a little TMI which you may/may not find useful? (Those who don’t want or need it, please look away now…). Apparently it’s fairly common for women who’ve had hysterectomy for prolapse to find ‘transit’ problems later, due to resultant prolapse of other, digestive rather than reproductive, bits. It can be remedied, though often isn’t, mainly because women tend to suffer in silence. I don’t suppose everyone on the forum wants the graphic details, but if you’re interested (I understand perfectly if you’re not!), and you want to ask JJ moderator for my email address, I’ll let you have the blow by blow account, if it would be helpful.

Lots of us here would give our right arms for winter temps of +4, even in the daytime – and +15-16 beats what we’ve had through lots of August! Though today has been glorious…15,000 steps round our local national arboretum (but a lot of cake as well, I’m afraid. Extra fast day to,orrow, as antidote…)

Thanks Fast, I have been thinking maybe There is another part going awry and I really don’t want to face that! I will ask JJ for your email, thankyou.

Good morning, all. Great success for your husband, fasting. PVE, I fully agree about the effects of sudden changes in temperature, purple. Welsh weather is notorious for being glorious one day, then distinctly cool to cold the next. We don’t tend to have extreme day/night differences though.

Carol, post hysterectomy for prolapse I find the digestive tract far easier to manage now. I also had anterior and posterior repairs – this is after a botched delivery of my daughter 40 years previously. My operation was 5 years ago and I convalesced on the sofa, watching the Olympics! Starting 5:2 last year, I did have some trouble, but take a small teaspoon of bran with my cereal works.

fasting, I’m definitely not in England! I’m Welsh, born in the south, now living in the north, near the beautiful Clwydian Range. Never assume we’re all,English – it’s the same as hearing an accent and assuming a Canadian is from the States! 😁

Well, the rugby season has started again. Unfortunately, our first game is away – a long way! OH and crew have decided to give it a miss. I love him, but I do enjoy my Saturday afternoons, peace and quiet ,,quick clean then lounge on the sofa, reading – occasionally with a very small chocolate bar.

    Pol. 🙋đŸŧ

Oh dear Polly! Nearly the ultimate insult! Perhaps we can be lenient with Fasting, she’s not from round these parts… and she didn’t actually suggest you were English, only that you lived in England….☚ī¸

No news here. Poor broadband for a couple of weeks, then a week’s holiday, and now just feeling a bit flat and boring. Maintaining a lb or so below my trigger weight though so that’s OK.

Hello all. Started on the 5:2 in March and have maintained my weight loss goal through recent vacation. Have been doing the monthly challenges and planning to continue there because I love the group and the support. Thought I would pop in here to get more tips and support on maintenance. I’m in St. Louis Missouri USA. I’m 71 1/2-year-old grandmother still working pretty much full-time as a psychotherapist. Found the weight creeping up and was concerned particularly about unhealthy belly fat. Started in March at48 pounds and have reached my goal of 132 pounds. That’s a healthy weight for me. Others have recommended or shared that they typically sell fast one day a week on maintenance. I’m planning to do that and focus on eating healthy the rest of the week. I have found that evening snacks or a weakness for me. I’ve also started training with a kettle bell coach who has helped me with posture and strength building. Looking forward to reading through the post here.

Happy, it’s the equating the whole of the UK with Engkand which antagonises the rest of us! I know people don’t intend an insult, though. It’s just damn annoying. Canadians will have experienced this if they cross the Atlantic, I’m sure. 😩

We’ve just had the most gorgeous tomato salad – simply chopped, salted lightly and left to stand before adding a little fresh chilli, garlic, red wine vinegar and best olive oil. It went beautifully with halloumi and a few sweet potato wedges. Enough for tomorrow, as well!

    Pol

Hi franfit. I will read the article you posted but the comment she pulled out seem to make perfectly good sense. I had hit my goal weight of 132 which was actually my second goal. My first goal weight was 136 but I wasn’t sure how well I would do in reaching it. I did reach it fairly quickly, having started at 148. I then was able to reach 132, bounced up a few pounds, was able to lose them even while on vacation with the family. I’ve lost an inch or so of height as I’ve aged. I’m about 5 5 now and was 5 6 1/2 to 5 7when I was younger. I’m happy with 132 and probably wouldn’t want to get much under 130. And working with the kettle bell Coach, walking and doing aerobic dance so can I build and maintain muscle strength.

Hi Sirisan, welcome and congratulations on reaching maintenance!

You will find a variety of methods in use here for we Maintainers to maintain our goal weight.

I do 6:1 fasting, a 36hour fast on my FD and that works well for me most of the time although I have noticed a little bit of weight creep recently so am doing 2 fasts this week.

We often refer to our ‘wriggle room’. We like to have a bit of space between our actual weight and our goal weight to allow for the fluctuations without getting in a tizz! 😊

There will be plenty of support and information on here for you to happily maintain!

SO SORRY, Pol! I know you Welsh are fiercely national, so I apologize for my error. Should have asked where you were from in the UK. I had thought that you had mentioned England once, so I ran with it. I know our Welsh friends in Cardiff would frown on my mistake.

And while I’m owning up to my mistakes, yes: PVE not PPE. The 50s song becomes an ear-worm. How many more Maintainers can I tick off today? [in USA, ‘tick off’ means ‘annoy’, not ‘check off the box’]

Hello, Sirisan. good job reaching your goal. My Own Dear Husband still Fast 2 days/week, even though we are at our target weight. Well…I am. He’s flirting with it. If I weren’t Fasting 2x/week, I’d gain a lot of the weight back. Besides, we truly enjoy our Fasting meals which are different from the rest of the week. But on a Fast Day, we eat more like 750-800 calories now instead of 600. We eat very healthily the rest of the week. Lots of protein will help you to maintain muscle and rebuild it. Everyday. Since you are losing height, are you careful about how much Calcium you ingest? Get your 1200 mg/day and get it from real food not supplements.

Here’s a question for all of you, in view of Sirisan’s comment about loss of stature: when our height changes, that changes our BMI, right? So one should recalculate. Which changes things.

Pol, [if you are still ‘talking’ to me] your tomato salad dinner sounds delightful. So End-of-Summer.

Happy, at least you are feeling ‘flat and boring’ rather than ‘fat and boring’!

Off for an evening walk. Lovely late Summer day here.
Happy Fasting tomorrow, everyone. The bombastic, small-minded American signing out.

Ha, nice one Fasting! Yes, feeling fat is definitely a thing of the past! Today I’m feeling more dense and solid… I went for a run yesterday and my thighs are feeling it! Sadly out of practice this year, and maybe only two or three months left before winter proper puts a stop to my running. Although I hesitate to call myself a runner in the presence of AT and her fell running OH!

I also consider myself Welsh (not by birth, but from age 2), but I do live in England now.

Hilarious fastingme! You have a good grip on the international sayings such as ‘tick off’! Lol

I’m Australian, English, Irish descent so very attuned with the language and sayings of that group of people although being exposed to American ways so much means I’ve picked up a lot ofAmericanisms too as have most of us I Daresay.

Don’t know that I get upset being mistaken for a different nationality but will say when we have been travelling in England at various times we were often referred to as the antipodeans and that really raised my feathers!

Start of my 36 hour fast followed by another FD Thursday but planning to eat up to 400 cals that day. Will see how I go. 😊

Fast, I have asked for your email address. Not sure I asked the right person, I haven’t heard anything yet but maybe the request goes to you and then you respond. I went to the Home page and clicked on the ‘contact us’ button. Cheers

    Hi and welcome Sirisan.
No probs, Fasting. I wasn’t ticked off, just stirring 😉😉
Like you, I would easily regain weight if I didn’t fast twice a week. It’s been 4 1/2 years on IF now, so it is part of life. We have massively increased the quantity and range of vegetables we eat. We eat a lot of fish and no alcolhol twice a week. Our carb intake has risen again slightly this winter (it’s cold for us!) and, as a consequence, we are both sitting at the top of our wriggle room…not ideal, but Spring will be here within a month.
Our fast days are usually 24 hours no food, followed by a fish and salad, yoghurt and berries of up to 600 cals ‘dinner’, then another 18 hours fast. I find I sleep better at night if I’ve eaten something and it reduces ‘transit time’ issues.
Monday fast day now. It’s cold, but sunny, so we’ll program in a long, vigorous walk.
People are dropping like flies with ‘flu here at the moment, even when vaccinated, so public places need to be avoided. 😑
Hope you don’t run into anything else as dense and solid as you Happy…it would hurt. 😉😉 P
