  • I have been doing the 5:2 diet for a while now. On non-diet days I tend to crave chocolate in the evenings, but I don’t on the diet days …. so that is good.

    Bad:

    1. Bloating. I hadn’t had bloating before, but now I get it on both days. Is this perhaps because my stomach is less full, so more room for gas? It happens with the Fast Diet Kitchen meals, but last week I tried Quorn instead, and still got bloated. Hate feeling bloated! How can I avoid it? I drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, and on “non” days I still eat fibre-rich foods (but other foods too).

    2. Day 1 I always feel very tired, but Day 2 is fine. How do I avoid the tiredness on Day 1?

What do you eat on non fast days?
On your first fast day which I’m guessing is Monday you might feel tired due to withdrawal of something you’ve been eating or drinking at the weekend eg if you eat a lot of processed carbs or eat or drink things containing a lot of sugar. Do you eat more healthily on Tu and Wed than at the weekend?
I’ve no idea why you are feeling bloated, hopefully someone else can help.

I very rarely eat processed carbs, and don’t drink sugary drinks at all. I eat mainly healthy, with occasional major blips (eg chocolate), and can’t relate food the day before to tiredness on day 1.
