  • Hi guys my name is David. 28 years old and live in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Just thought I’d introduce myself as I have looking for some advice.

From your previous post, I see that you are a shift-worker and want to start a 16:8 regime. How much weight do you want to lose? My husband lost 45 pounds, if that’s any incentive for you.

Plan your meals in advance. Shop for ingredients in advance. Make batches of soup for easy meals. Plan to drink lots of water, both for hydration and to fill you up. Hide [or get rid of] the snack food.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I am a shift worker and I am looking to start a 16:8 regime. I honestly don’t have a figure in mind for weight loss. I weigh 257lb at present. I have started to exercise too. Thank you for the advice I will take that on board. My main query is how did your husband fast during night shift. If I keep my window at 11-7 I will eat my last meal just after starting work and won’t eat again until after I finish. Is this possible or insane to work whilst fasting? The other issue with that is that I’d need to break my sleep to eat as I would be asleep during most of my feeding window.

When you are on night-shift, you work an 8-hour day [i assume], bracketed by waking up hours and winding down hours. To maintain your 16:8 eating window, why not eat when you wake up [“breakfast’] and then when work is almost done. How do you eat on a day-time work shift? Can’t you then translate that to a night-time shift?
Do not wake yourself up to eat! Do you find yourself to be more hungry or less hungry during the night shift? If less hungry, just go with it. There is no problem with not eating while you work, as long as you stay hydrated. Don’t know what work you do, but lots of people go to work while doing a total water-only fast and do just fine.
Happily for him, my husband did not work night shift.
Good luck. happy to help with more answers or recipes if you need them.

No my typical shift is 12 hours. Either 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am. On day shift I eat from 11am-7pm having breakfast lunch and dinner in that window. I thought of doing 11pm-7am window on night shift but how would I transition to that I’d either have a huge eating window or a huge fast. I seen a video on YouTube saying that you can extend your eating window so long as you make sure and keep your fast at 16 hours. Is this correct? What recipes do you have for break fast lunch and dinner?

LOTS of recipes, David, for Breakfasts and Dinners. We don’t eat lunch, but there are some smoothie meals. Anyhow, not knowing what you are specifically looking for [seafood? meat? vegetarian?] I will direct you to my Profile: click my handle, see the Profile, look for my blog name and go there. The purpose of the blog is to help Fasters like you to find good recipes where the food values are all worked out. I make no money from this blog.
