  • Hi everyone,

I’m new here. Can someone please tell me if the calories spent in exercise should be taken into consideration or not.

For example, the 500 calories – should that be 500 food calories, or 500+calories in exercise?

Similarly for non-fasting days — should it say….1300 calories or 1300 + 230 calories in exercise?

Just want to make sure I do this right :-).

    Thanks,
    Hubleylake

    Hi Hubley,

I don’t think you have to be that precise. Just use the Resources option at the top of the page to come up with your TDEE. If you do exercise every day and it equates to 230 cal then 1300+230 = 1530. A quarter of that is 380. There is nothing magical about a quarter of TDEE. Its just a number of calories that Michael Mosley though most people could handle. Lots of people water fast (zero calories) including me. If you can do that great, if not just stick with a quarter. If you do eat on your fast days try and avoid sugar and simple grain based carbs like bread, pasta, rice etc as simple carbs will make it hard to stay under 1/4 TDEE. Go for veggies or full fat low sugar yogurts or lean meats like tuna or chicken as they tend to satiate you for longer.

    Goo luck.

Thank you bigbooty! That was super helpful!! I’ll go calculate the TDEE.
