  • Hi, I have seen there are a few similar topics on here but I was wondering if anyone else has had spotting during their cycle? I am mid-way through my cycle and have had spotting for two days. I guess I am ovulating about now and am wondering if IF has decreased my estrogen levels? I have lost 3.8kg in 3 weeks but have lost heaps more than that on other diets before without any change to my cycle.
    Have you experienced something similar?

    Hi

I have had the same thing. Lighter periods then spotting round mid cycle. I am 46 so heading towards menopause.

    Doing 5 2 Monday Thursday

Not overly concerned I have lost nearly 9kg in 9 weeks, and nearly 50cm. Still have. Fair way to go.

I am also doing 3 or 4 training sessions a week with a personal trainer.

I figure that my body is in shock and my hormones are as well.

Thanks for the reply. I am 39 so still have a decade or more (given family history) before menopause.

Congratulations on your measurements and weight reduction, those results are great!

I am doing Monday and Thursday as well. It is only week four for me. Interestingly my weight I have lost has increased each week so far. I usually find it slows down after the first week when on a diet. Maybe that is the key, this isn’t a diet.

I will certainly continue, I just hope my body finds a new cycle quickly. I find it disconcerting that it has been interrupted.

Thanks again for the reply 🙂

Just thought that I would update that I got my period 8 days early. Has never happened before. I am sure IF is affecting my hormones. I had really bad PMS too. Am hoping it is just a teething issue and will all settle down.

no spotting but I have had a significant change in my periods since starting 5:2 nearly a year ago. My periods had been very heavy and excruciatingly painful. Now they are moderate to normal flow and no pain. They’ve also started coming every 3 weeks instead of every 4 but I think that is probably due to perimenopause (I’m about to turn 47).

Fat tissue produces estrogen, so if you lose a lot of it, it can definitely affect your hormones.

Different people experience different changes during their menstruation or menopause. All this depends on the hormonal changes you are going through.Like when I was heading my menopause I use to have heavy bleeding for which I had to make use of menstrual cups rather sanitary napkins or cloth. And yes I did lost my weight also during this phase. So I believe that this menstrual changes are very much affected my your hormonal changes and varies from person to person.
