  • You are amazing, Wi.
Yes, Monday fast just ended here. Kept very busy, so the day disappeared in no time.
The French certainly embrace their right to protest, don’t they? We joined one ourselves, this week, but peaceful with a wonderful mix of people all demanding action on climate. My favourite quote on a placard: “The climate has changed, why haven’t we?” P

    Hi everyone,

After a disastrous weekend where I reverted to the see food, eat it diet I’m breezing through my Monday FD.

TBH yesterday was OK but Saturday was dreadful I’ve no idea of the where or why of these self destructive moods that come over me but hopefully the day will come when I work it out.

I’m in full DIY mode today. I started by painting the external parts of the window frames that I’ve been working on. They just need one more coat of paint and they are done.

I’ve also removed most of the landing wallpaper that needs to come down in order to complete the repair work. I got tired when I was 75% of the way through and as I’m working very close to the top of the stairs I decided to put safety first and pack up for the day. I was surprised to find I’d been working for 4 hours.

My new wifi hub arrived so I spent 5 minutes setting it up, another 10 connecting all my devices apart from the printer, and the best part of an hour unsuccessfully attempting to connect the *&%Β£ thing and then gave up vowing to buy a newer model in the post Christmas sales πŸ˜†

By the time I had tidied up and had a shower it was 2.30.

I’m now relaxing with a huge mug of coffee and some water.

    Wiwi,
you are a fasting warrior! Go girl πŸ˜€

Have a good one everybody 😜

    Hi everyone………

Or am I the only one here?

It’s a beautiful sunny but cold day here with clear blue sky and sunshine πŸ™‚

I was up and out early. I swear the men who work at the recycling centre will be wondering if I’ve anything left at home as I’ve visited so often recently πŸ˜†

Then on to the DIY store for yet another and thankfully the last pot of paint.

I also went grocery shopping and I was looking at the seasonal offerings. My usual supermarket used to do some really nice things but now it is all order ahead on-line and next to nothing in store, very disappointing but it meant I decided to make everything myself which will be much tastier and less expensive.

I’ve been busy in the kitchen making some cranberry chutney that doesn’t need a month to mature, which is excellent as I want to serve it at the weekend, plus it makes one jar which is perfect.

I’ve also made some sausage rolls with venison sausages and home made flaky pastry. I don’t need to worry about the carb content as the pastry is mostly butter πŸ˜†

Another hour of DIY brings me to almost 1pm on my second FD so I guess I’ll need to do the ironing……

Have a good one everybody 😜

    Hi All,
Crazy busy here, Party! Party! Party!
Still not getting enough sleep as cutting out pain medication after β€˜tablet in throat episode’ and fear of addiction but getting desperate for a good nights sleep. 3 hot water bottles not doing the trick.

Need to fit in three fast days this week to make up for meals out, may need to put them back to back starting tomorrow as more events this weekend.

My sons girlfriendsBaby Shower was an interesting experience. I now definitely know I have nothing in common with today’s 30 year old woman. Conversations were like a foreign language. To be fair I don’t watch much β€˜live TV’ and have zilch knowledge about celebrities so all my fault. I managed to discuss a bit of travel with a couple of Grannies so it wasn’t a total write off.

Hope Everyone is well, chat later…promise!

GOING WELL WI fantastic er er er πŸ˜‰
I have recently joined the IDM The Obesity Code Network: Fasting Support with Megan Ramos & Dr. Jason Fung on Facebook and what a joyous experience it is.
most not all but most of the emphases is on fasting and the numerous fasting protocols that is being used by the membership and how many hours they can safely abstain really fascinating stuff and very little commentary on the food component at all. Hump day fast day for me shooting for 36 hours ADF
    RT

    Hi RT,

I hadn’t even thought to look on Facebook for Fung and IDM. I have read some of Longo’s Facebook posts, but I’m losing interest as they appear to float any old tat so long as it supports what he says…

    Amazon,

Sorry you’ve been left holding the ‘baby: (this thread!) again. It would have fizzled out of existence long ago if it wasn’t for you!

I have been reading, but work is really busy at the moment, and OH is having a temper tantrum because he isn’t the centre of the universe. So I’m struggling to find time for anything 😞

    Morning/evening all,

    Hi Happy,

I hope you are enjoying your new job although you’ve probably not been doing it long enough to have gotten to grips with everything.
I’m sure your man will get over himself soon.

I’ve done two FDs this week which went well. I’m meeting some friends for lunch today. I plan to make it my only meal and if I can keep away from the fridge this evening all will be well.
I’m planning on B2B FDs TH/F. I’ve found that tricky these past couple of weeks but I need to stay on track on days when I’m not socialising.

Have a good one everybody 😜

I have been mixing things up a bit in the routine department and finding that to be a positive change as i go through a working week now maybe brunch and a later lunch on a feed day within my feeding window seems quite good skip dinner in favour of a big coffee or green tea or soda water with some lime or lemon for some tangy bubbly goodness. The 5th born son had a job interview and pre-employment medical yesterday and was successful in both so now has a 4 day induction program and starts full time work next Wednesday at the processing plant that i and his 2 brothers work also he is on the afternoon shift 2-45pm start 11-30pm finish so y-fee and I be will home ALONE……

    YEEHAA
    Peace RT

    Hi RT,

Well done to no 5 son πŸ™‚

I hope you and Mrs RT don’t get bored all by yourselves πŸ˜‰

Thanks Amazon πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œπŸ˜β€οΈβ€οΈπŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ˜Žmay need to take a re-fresher course just quietly
    😜

    Morning All,
Halfway through process of having boiler exchanged so no heating or hot water. That is making Fasting very hard so heading out to bowls this morning as it’s at least warm there.

RT – my other half is rarely in the same room, living in the same house doesn’t necessarily mean together time. One of the down sides of β€˜fasting’ we rarely share a meal together now. Ah well less arguing. Well done to No 5, first job is exciting!

My daughter is considering extending her flying lessons to train as a Commercial Pilot now that will be very expensive.

Time to get up before workmen arrive.

    Have a good day all

    Morning/evening all,

It’s a cold and frosty morning here.

Another B2B fast today and tomorrow. I have a lot to do so hopefully will get through both days without too much trouble.

My new boiler is keeping the flat nice and warm and its efficiency made me realise that I should have had the old one replaced a couple of years ago πŸ˜†

Have a good one everybody 😜

Hi Fast Trackers and Hello World (You All know Who You ARE) πŸ˜‰
AFTER THE YES /NO VOTE LEGISLATION GOES THROUGH PARLIAMENT.

There are important questions to be answered about expected new LGBT bathroom legislation and whether transgender people will be permitted to use a restroom of the gender that they “identify” with or be required to use the restroom of their Biological gender.

If the latter, will public restrooms be required to have a Genital
Inspection Station posted at the entrance to all public restrooms?

Who will have to pay these Pecker Checkers, the people using the
restroom, or the entity that owns the restroom?

And how much money will a Pecker Checker be paid to check peckers?

Or, do we pay a Pecker Checker by the number of peckers checked? If so, the following question arises:

How many peckers can a Pecker Checker check, if a Pecker Checker could
    check peckers?

The Government will now have to create a new job description of β€˜Politically Correct’ Restroom Service Inspectors?

Want to guess their motto ………..???

“If You gotta pee – We gotta see!”

Have A Happy Weekend All You beautiful Losers πŸ˜†
    Peace RT

The mind does boggle, RT, but certainly today’s social acceptance of differences throws up some issues to be resolved. Congratulations on your son’s employment πŸ™‚ It sounds as though your family is running the plant!

There is a shortage of commercial pilots looming, Jo. Expensive, yes, but no doubt well paid at the end of the qualifying period.

I have hit a low after yesterday’s FD that I haven’t seen for several months. No doubt the scales will skyrocket again tomorrow, so I will enjoy it while I have it! I’m fighting off a cold, so today’s Friday off will be a convalescence day. At least IF reduces the impact of the cold, and it’s the first one in over two years.

At least today is a Christmas-social-free zone, although I was going with my niece to visit our aunt’s grave, but that can wait until next week – when I am on a month’s holiday πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Hi Barata,

That is good news after all those months of trying to lose weight without much joy.
    Hope your cold disappears soon.

I’ve not weighed this week because I’ve had so much on my mind that I keep forgetting to get on the scales first thing in the morning as I wake up every day with my mind racing, but when I went out yesterday I put on a dress and couldn’t believe what I saw in the mirror as my stomach area has definitely shrunk and I feel lighter. I also noticed that my smart winter coat (which is fitted) is more roomy than it was when I wore it 3 weeks ago so I’m very pleased.

I really struggled with fasting today as I woke up feeling hungry. I’m putting the blame firmly on the baklava I had yesterday. All that syrup and flaky pastry as delicious as it was, gave me a huge sugar high which had disappeared long before I got out of bed this morning.

I’ve made it through with the help of a spoonful of peanut butter and a clementine.
I’ll take that as I’m fasting again tomorrow.

I’ve only had one Christmas social event so far, but it gets busier this weekend.
Fortunately events are spread out so I’ll still be able to fit in at least 3 FDs next week.

Well done, girls! Shaping up nicely for Xmas. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ P

Thanks, Amazon, but I know it will bounce back tomorrow – no rhyme or reason, can put on 0.2 kg after a good FD! And well done you! πŸ™‚ Nothing like fitting better into clothes to give a positive glow. And all this in spite of the season’s festivities.

I’ve been trying really hard to stick to the plan for the past couple of months. I had a meltdown last Saturday but apart from that things have been going well.

One of my friends who I met up with yesterday noticed that I had lost weight since she last saw me at the beginning of October and that has also given me a real boost and hardened my resolve to fit in at least 4 more FD before next weekend.

Morning Fast Trackers I scalped this off The Obesity Code Network: Fasting Support with Megan Ramos & Dr. Jason Fung Face Book page a timely reminder for all of us IMO
OCN is first and foremost a fasting support group. Every day we see posts asking can I eat this? Can I eat that? Will this break my fast? etc.
Most of us have a long history of dieting. Diets in the past all focused on 2 things. What you can eat, and what you can’t eat. In that respect, it’s understandable that’s what people focus on, is the food.
Fasting is different. Fasting is about when we eat or don’t. Fasting is the key to all the healing that takes place. It’s not the food you’re eating. It’s when you’re eating, how often you’re eating and how long you’re going without eating.
Dr. Fung and Megan Ramos have spoken many times about fasting being done using any diet. Why? Because with a few exceptions, there’s very few rules about food. They emphasize food should be real foods. Nutritionally dense vegetables that grow above the earth, the best quality proteins you can afford and quality good fats.
Those are foods that can be included in any diet you name. The key is to get away from the Standard American Diet filled with sugar, refined carbs, processed foods and very bad oils. Those foods aren’t healthy for anyone whether you’re trying to lose weight or not. For optimum health no one should eat them.
There’s no getting around what’s a healthy diet. Real foods are things that are at one time living. Plants and animals. If it comes in a box or a can, it’s likely processed. If you read an ingredients label and don’t recognize the ingredients, they’re more than likely chemicals used to process the food.
Many of you find it very difficult to give up your sweets. IDM makes it very clear about how harmful sugar and sweeteners are for your health. There is not one sweetening agent out there, no matter what the claims are, that are good for you, that don’t initiate an insulin response. There’s a very clear explanation in our file Sugar and Sweeteners, and also in that file are links to Dr. Fung’s blogs on the subject and other articles. It’s always your choice what you choose to put in your body. We’re not the food police, however, that doesn’t mean we’ll support recommendations, recipes that includes them etc.
One of my favorite sayings when it comes to all those diet products people try to sell you is this: Diet junk food is still junk food. That goes for all those bars, shakes, drinks, magic supplements, pills etc. There is nothing that’s going to make the fat magically disappear except fasting and a healthy diet.
Let’s have some great discussions about fasting. Let’s focus on what truly matters most. How to fast in the healthiest way possible. Tell me one tip you would give to someone just starting on this fasting journey, that has helped you fast.

    RT

    Good morning all,
Boiler exchanged and heat and hot water restored. All is good with my world.
It very chilly and windy down South but at least we are not expecting snow like the hilly Northern climes.
Feeling pretty rough today, lack of sleep mostly, don’t think I will be making dance class. Rest day is on the cards as busy weekend ahead.

My tip for Fasting is lots of water and hot drinks, preferably green tea.
Walk 10,000 steps every day preferably good pace.

    Hi everyone,

It was cold and frosty this morning and is still only 3Β°C but the sun is shining.

My sofas have been delivered. They look fabulous and are much more comfortable 😁
All I need now is for the blinds to be fitted which will be done by this time tomorrow.

    RT,

Thanks for the information in your post, a timely reminder for all πŸ™‚

I’m doing my 4th fast of the week and all is going well. The scales haven’t moved since last time I weighed but I’m not concerned as I know I’ve been working hard apart from one bad day.

My tip for fasting is be patient as it takes time for the body (and mindset) to get used to it and also look at it as a new way of life rather than a diet as it’s a waste of time losing weight unless one is prepared to eliminate bad eating habits and embrace healthier eating as part of a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Have a good weekend everybody 😜

    Hi All,

So many posts to catch up on, I’ve skimmed through the majority. Well after 2 weeks of travel and one week of preparing clothes etc and madly packing while working full time, I got home very late Wednesday night due to flight cancellation (thanks Jetstar!) and staff not doing their job right.

One week of indulging in Bali (well not too much, just a few drinks that I normally wouldn’t have but otherwise food pretty well under control) and then travelling daily from one state to another (WA, Vic, Qld, NSW then home to SA) I was pretty well exhausted. Finally got to check the scales yesterday and found I’d stayed the same weight (no loss no gain) which considering I’d had to eat “out” for almost 2 weeks for all meals was not bad I thought.

Loved the jokes RT. Glad your throat is okay again Jojo. Hi to everyone I haven’t mentioned and catch up again soon.

    Cheers,

    AO

    Morning/evening all,

Monday morning, cold and frosty with a clear blue sky and sunshine.

I’ve woken up with acute back pain, the first time I’ve experienced anything like it for over 20 years. I guess my return to the gym is postponed as is putting up wallpaper ☹

Fingers crossed it disappears as fast as it arrived. I know how to deal with it and have already taken anti inflammatories, applied heat and after a suitable interval done some stretching.

I also unearthed my Mackenzie back roll which ensures I sit properly.

I guess I’ll be alternating stretching with reading.

At least the sofa won’t make it worse.

It’s also a FD, fingers crossed I can stick with it, although walking to the kitchen is a bit tricky at the moment anyway…..

Have a good one everybody 😜

    Morning Amazon,
Sorry to hear your back is troubling you. My sympathies but moving however painful is usually better than sofa sitting. I rely on hot water bottles when it’s at its worst. Wishing you the best and a quick recovery.

I have just rung the Doctor myself as my bad throat came back with a vengeance over the weekend and is now a fully fledged bronchial infection. Non stop coupling at night and very productive. I feel like an elephant has sat on my rib cage after three nights of coughing. However my doctors are very busy this week so no appointments available. I said please refer me to someone as I have Asthmatic historic so I am awaiting a call back. I hope this is not going to be another trip to A & E.

Meantime the sun is shining and it will be great to walk around the park.

Keep well everyone, it’s always worse being sick over the holidays.

    Jo,

My back is already feeling much better although very sore when I move, but I’m confident it’ll be fine by tomorrow if I sit up properly and move/stretch at regular intervals.
I spent a couple of hours yesterday in a very awkward position with my head and shoulders in a kitchen cupboard under the sink sorting out a blocked pipe. It took me ages to disconnect the u bend as the joints were very tight and my arthritic thumbs aren’t very strong, and I’m guessing that’s the cause of my problem. I’ll take a day of pain rather than forking out Β£90 for someone to come and clear it.

You’ve probably got a viral chest infection, something that requires TLC rather than medical intervention. Have you been to your local pharmacy for advice and some over the counter medicine which is what the NHS recommend as the first port of call?
    Hope it gets better soon.

    Amazon,
Be careful when you read Jojo’s contribution to the thread. It could hurt your back more.
Sorry, Jojo and Amazon for your troubles,
but Jojo, I’m sure all night productive coupling doesn’t help your back.
It’s all that predictive spelling. My children call me maman, as they were French speakers first. In predictive English spelling it comes out as “madman”
Sorry to hear about your woes. Keep warm.
Last day for me at home in France for 3 or 4 months. Off to Italy for Christmas tomorrow.
Boring day for me doing OH’s UK taxes.
    xx Wiwi

    Apologies, sure you are right.

Definitely not coupling Wiwi, just coughing and wheezing.

Best wishes for the festive season wherever you may be

It’s OK Wiwi, I’m an old hand at nursing my back and know exactly what I need to do.

Have a fab time in Italy and I look forward to hearing all about it.

Thanks Wi! I was really wondering about the all night coupling!! πŸ™„πŸ™„

Predictive text can be sooooo irritating but some of the results are hilarious πŸ˜†

β€œIt is easier to avoid eating than to stop eating once started”
    Peace RT

    Morning/evening all,

My back is miraculously 95% recovered. It feels slightly sore but that’s all. I am mightily relieved.

I actually managed a short walk yesterday afternoon and the fresh air, sunshine and exercise made me feel much better. Today’s plan is not to sit for too long so I’m reading a chapter of my book then getting up, walking around and doing some stretching. It’s a horrible day with a cold bitter wind which is blowing the rain almost horizontally. Unfortunately it’s not a day for a walk in the fresh air..
My FD didn’t go well yesterday as I succumbed to comfort eating but I’m fasting today and so far so good.

Thanks for the link RT. It’s always interesting to read the results of the latest discoveries regarding IF.

Have a good one everybody 😜

    Morning All,
Great news about your back healing so quickly.
Sitting around is a problem for me too when it comes to temptation, much rather be busy.

I went to the Pantomime yesterday with my Retirement Group. Unfortunately one of the groups committee members had a serious car accident on her way there, her poor husband had to be cut out of their car which is now written off. They were hit by a van in the drivers door. Her hubby has a broken arm(complicated fracture) so they were at the hospital for twelve hours awaiting specialist to do surgery. Luckily the wife and grand daughter had no injuries but were very shocked. What a shame for them, but they were lucky that the injuries were not worse.

I have been cleaning g all morning, afraid my old dog had a bad stomach upset last night. Three carpets to clean twice and one hard floor to steam. Then it took me over one hour to sanitise the carpet cleaner, I just hope I have put all the bits back correctly. It seems to be working OK.

I have just ordered some new rubber backed mats to cover carpet at night, these will be much easier to clean. Sadly the old dog cannot be left on hard floor as her legs are too dodgy now.

The sun has just come out so I am off to get some much needed fresh air.

    Merry Christmas one and all.

    Hi everyone,

It’s a very cold but bright day here.
I’m off to Christmas at Kew this evening which this year includes the option of Christmas dinner and we decided to give it a try so it is booked and paid for.

My back isn’t quite right yet and is still feeling sore when I sit but I have full movement and didn’t experience any pain whilst papering the landing this morning.
Thank goodness that is done. All it needs now is a couple of coats of paint and I can pack all the DIY equipment away πŸ˜€

Fasting has been a complete failure so far this week for various reasons (and I have only myself to blame although I’ve stopped doing blame when I eat too much as it makes things worse) but I’ll try again tomorrow. I have a busy day planned so it should be easier for me to stay out of the kitchen. I’m going out for drinks on Friday evening so I’ll fast all day and have an omelette before I go out.

I’m out for dinner on Saturday but should be able to fit in another FD on Sunday as although I’m visiting my niece for coffee she’s not one to attempt to force food on people if they say no thanks.

My ailing and elderly cat ruined my hall carpet but he did me a favour as I now have a lovely wipe clean wood laminate floor.

Have a good one everybody 😜

    Me again,

All well here. My FD has flown by so far as I’ve been busy painting. I now need to tackle some household chores (can’t wait……….😝 )

Christmas at Kew was fabulous and the Christmas dinner was very good.
The trail was a completely different route to last year and the lights, lasers, music and sound effects were fab. All the way round the light shows and attractions are accompanied by music and carols which was set at a volume loud enough for people to hear but quiet enough to talk.
The trees many of which are bare at this time of year were spotlit from ground level with lights of different colours making it almost magical, and a couple of large trees were completely covered in lights.
The light shows were very well thought out. On one of the lakes either side of the crossing there are approximately 100 lights shaped like little paper boats floating on the water, which went on an off in a rainbow of colours and a variety of different sequences. The resident waterfowl were happily swimming around apparently not bothered in the slightest by them.

There was also the Snow Queen and friends with special guest Father Christmas, much appreciated by all the children present.

The finale was a spectacular light and laser show projected in two directions across the Palm House lake, lighting up the House itself or coming towards the platform on the other side where we were standing. Some of the images were projected through the water coming from the fountain.
We liked it so much we watched it twice.

At intervals along the trail were little cabins staffed with very jolly workers, where food and drinks could be purchased, chestnuts, marshmallows for toasting, mince pies, roast pork rolls, mulled wine, mulled cider and various other alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, plus tea, coffee and hot chocolate so we were able to keep ourselves topped up with mulled wine πŸ˜‰

We had paid in advance and before the menu was published so were looking forward to seeing what was on offer. For our meal ticket we received a glass of very good mulled wine which served to top up what had already been consumed on our walk along the trail, followed by a choice of a traditional turkey dinner, sea bream or a vegetarian option based on squash and chestnut followed by Christmas pud or plum crumble tart.
We both went for the turkey and Christmas pud and were impressed with what we ate. Perfectly cooked meat and veggies and very nice, light, fruity and not to sweet pudding. We also had some very good Romanian Pinot Noir πŸ˜€
The whole evening was great even though a 10 minute sharp shower tried to dim our enthusiasm. We met some lovely people on the way round, in the restaurant and even at the bus stop on the way home!

Have a good one everybody 😜

Ah, Kew at Christmas. They do it well. Glad you made the most of it Amazon. πŸ˜‰
We have to wait until late, when it’s dark, to admire our fairy lights and by then, in the last few nights, we have been confronted by colossal thunderstorms and even hail last night. Always ‘exciting, weatherwise, here at Christmas time!
Everything is getting ready for the festival season here…school holidays have started and most people finish work today. The mass exodus from the city has begun. I’m sitting put.
Have fun and be careful everyone. P

    Good evening All,
Sorry to hear you back is still troublesome. Sounds like a great night out at Kew though. I went to see It’s a Wonderful Life on the big screen, still No 1 best ever Christmas Film. Took Water and cough pastilles just in case but not too troublesome when upright.
Pretty bad week of night cough but over the worst now.
My son recommended Vicks Vapour Rub on the soles of my feet at night, then socks on top. I also added some to chest for good measure. Slept like a baby last night.
Of there is no scientific back up for this working and the company themselves do not endorse this method but I am happy to try it again tonight. Feet nice and smooth too plus it is apparently effective on toe nail fungi. Watch this space!
I have downloaded a Bridge application on to my iPad and become addicted to it’s use. Not sure it will improve my game but it beats patience.
Finished present shopping but no food shopping planned yet. We are on our own so the world is our oyster. What to have?
My daughters flying lessons are going very well so we will have the chance to join her when we go(only to watch) it’s a two seater so the Instructor unlikely to give up his place. She is loving it.
Now I must get back to carpet cleaning, using a machine of course but still arduous work.

    Hi everyone,

    Jo,
The simple answer is that cold feet are not conducive to a good night’s sleep.

My back is much better and hopefully will be 100% in the next day or so. It isn’t stopping me from doing anything but is still a bit sore.

I’m just home from visiting friends. It was a lovely evening but I left early as she isn’t feeling too well, appears to be coming down with either a cold or a chill and is in need of an early night. I hope it is the latter as no-one wants a cold over Christmas.

I’m intrigued as to what my Christmas gifts are as they weigh a ton πŸ˜† I have a feeling one of them is a bottle of craft gin
    Wouldn’t that be a shame……….. πŸ˜‰

I could do with an early night myself as I’m feeling rather tired and I need to be up early tomorrow.

I packed away my DIY equipment today. There are a couple of little jobs outstanding but they can wait until the New Year.
I can’t remember the last time my home looked so clean and tidy either and one of my NY resolutions might be keeping it that way.

Have a good one everybody πŸ˜œπŸŽ„

The shopping is done (except for some strawberries and makings of the trifle on Monday), the garage floor has been waterblasted and is looking great, and I was so enthused that I carried on blasting the driveway. In fact the silt and stuff from the garage had to be swept away down the drive, and the green on the concrete outside showed, so it was a no-brainer to carry on. And no, silt and debris didn’t end up in the stormwater drains, all gathered up and added to the compost πŸ™‚ I briefly considered a beer as reward, but instead am enjoying coffee and camembert in the shade from 20 degrees.

Well done on your efforts, Amazon. I have just recovered from a summer cold myself, the first cold in two and a half years. At least I didn’t share it around.

I am so happy to be back in ‘rapt’ territory, under 60kgs, in spite of the seasonal festivities.

I trust you survived the hailstorm, P. What an onslaught! Then you are kindly sending the remnants of the storm our way, perhaps in time for Tuesday. And I had thoughts of sitting on a beach!

    Have a great weekend, all.

Well I’m totally unprepared. My new job has allowed little time to think about Christmas, and a few personal issues have also diverted my thinking lately. I’ve done random present shopping, but I haven’t got something for everyone…!

Today I’m heading into hell and going to play dodgems with trollies and fight over cream and carrots…

I haven’t fasted for weeks but mindful eating and stress have kept my weight down. I won’t go mad this week, but I don’t expect I’ll be fast-free for too much longer!

I see Australia is forecast a heat wave for Xmas! Not quite that here, but no white Christmas…

    Morning/evening all,

I got up early to be at the supermarket when it opened at 7am.
I am now sitting on the sofa with a cuppa safe in the knowledge that if 10 feet of snow falls overnight I will have enough to keep me going until at least the end of January πŸ˜†

Not strictly true, I bought fruit, veg, dairy and fish. Tuna and salmon stashed in the freezer and some gin smoked salmon (couldn’t resist). Got to have smoked salmon at Christmas. And don’t tell anyone but I also bought bread AND fruit juice. Can’t make a Singapore Sling without juice…….. 🍹

The majority of people were calmly going about their business, quietly filling their trollies, ticking off items on the list, smiling and apologising if they bumped into someone but there were a couple of very stressed bodies darting about, leaving trollies blocking the aisle and grabbing feverishly at items whilst doing their headless chicken party piece 😏

    Happy,

    I hope you’ve got a few days off for some R&R (and possibly a G&T or 2)

    Barata,

Thanks, I’m walking around the flat with a stupid grin on my face because I’d forgotten how nice my home is if it receives sufficient TLC.
    Just like us πŸ˜€

I’m out for dinner this evening with my best friend who is also known as Bah Scrooge Humbug at this time of year πŸ˜‰

Have a good one everybody πŸ˜€

Well, Happy, a warm day predicted for the 25th, but jumpers on today! We are having plenty of rain (and hail and thunder) so the garden looks fabulous!
The shops are surprisingly quiet here. No mad last minute rush. Plenty of car spaces! I think everyone else has gone away. P

    Morning All,
Feeling good after two nights sleep, whoo hoo, my head is now in a better place and I feel I can drive safely. Lack of sleep certainly messes with the reactions, go slow mode. Dance class today with sequin enhanced leggings and diamantΓ© earrings, mad women that we are? My feet have never been so smooth, great beauty treatment that vapour rub.

We celebrate the Kitchen and floor being put in my sons house today, hoorah! But I feel it might be better to get the bathroom done before they move in, a fewradiators might be nice too. They are camping here for three days as my sons girlfriend has finally finished work. She will be very glad to not be travelling into London everyday at 8 months pregnant. I bought her a pregnancy massage, 90 Minutes of indulgence that I hope won’t bring on delivery.

I am doing some food shopping today but on enough for a little spread for 8 tonight.
We are not over indulging this year, rations only. I have indulged in the odd mince pie and chocolate biscuit but not going too mad.

    Amazon,

Yes I am having a week off, catching up with various friends and family all week, but not going away and no houseful to cater for. So hopefully I’ll be reenergised when work resumes in January. And yes, I will be having an occasional gin 😊

I am in awe of your efforts in your flat. I need to set to and do some proper cleaning but it never seems to be a priority…!

    Jo,

I’m glad to hear you’ve managed to get some sleep. Sleep deprivation is an awful thing, mentally and physically. You can see why it has been used as part of interrogation and torture!

It’s pouring rain and dark here today. We’re off out visiting, but I may have to pick up a duster at some point…

    Hi everyone.

    Happy,

It was a long hard tough job, but once I had started I was determined not to stop until everything was done. It’s definitely been a labour of love and at times I wondered if I had bitten off more than I could chew, but I’ve done it and I’m feeling rather proud of myself.

The next project is to get myself back to work at the gym. I’ve really missed it but had neither the time or the energy to do it alongside DIY.

My back seems OK now so hopefully I can get back into my routine soon.

I had a very nice dinner with my best friend yesterday evening in a pub near where we used to work. I chose pappardelle with wild boar ragu and a rocket and parmesan salad. It was delicious, very filling and not something I would cook for myself.
It was very quiet everywhere and all the pubs and restaurants were more than half empty. The seasonal mass exodus from London has occurred. The roads are very quiet which is a rare blessing.

It’s cold and fairly wet today. I went to see my niece this morning. She is 4 weeks away from the birth of no 2 child and is looking and feeling good. She works 3 days a week and her last day until next autumn was Wednesday and it didn’t come a day too soon.
No 1 child was out with Daddy so we had some time to ourselves before they returned which was very nice.
My great nephew is fully engaged in Christmas and very excited in anticipation of the visit from the man in red and all the cake and chocolate that has appeared πŸ˜†
It was really good to catch up with my nieces husband as I usually meet up with her on a weekday when he is working.

I was encouraged to give my great nephew his present and allow him to open it today. It was great to see the delight on his face when he saw what the parcel contained, but we all held our breath while he was chewing the edge of a chocolate penguin before pronouncing it very nice πŸ˜† So it should be as it came from Hotel Chocolat!!!

I was given a beautiful bouquet of flowers and they are now sitting in my new vase which was also a Christmas gift πŸ˜€πŸ’

Have a good one everybody πŸ˜œπŸŽ„πŸΈ

    Evening All,
Bit jaded today after a family party here last night. Kept the food minimal so no leftovers. Played bowls (badly) this morning but I felt I needed the exercise. What I actually needed was fresh air and lots of water as dehydrated. Lovely mild if muddy visit to the park with dogs. Just chilling this afternoon in preparation for another party tomorrow and then again on Boxing Day.

Amazon – I have two beautiful pontsettas and a white orchid, both favourites at Christmas. I also make a candle, yew/ pine cone table decoration every year. Good to have live flowers and a real tree at Christmas. πŸŽ„

Have a good holiday everyone β˜ƒοΈ

    Morning/evening,

Merry Christmas to one and all πŸŽ„πŸ˜€πŸΎ

Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we fast πŸ˜†

Have a good one everybody 😜

I’m all ready for the family Xmas Day here tomorrow. The fridges and eskies are groaning, the lawns look fabulous, the pool sparkling and excellent swimming weather predicted. Just settling into bed before Santa arrives!
Have a happy and peaceful Christmas, everyone. Thanks for the stories of progress and backslips, the insights into lives around the world and the amazing friendships we have developed all by just eating less.πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰
All the best for the year ahead. P πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

Merry Christmas, first Barata in NZ, then my Aussie friends, Purple and Nama first then RT and OMA, then to you All in the UK, Amazon, JoJo, Happy. Then to HBC in the US.
    Love from Wiwi in Italy.

Thanks, Wi. Yes, Santa has already visited the first corner of the globe to see the new day. And a dreary, wet one it has started out to be. There should be a bit of sunshine later though, and temperature might get up into the low 20s.

Happy Christmas to you all, dear steadfast fasting mates. Enjoy your festive feasting, and know that we will be back on track soon enough. πŸ™‚
