  • I’ve moved my post here from soul as I got no replies

This is my 2nd attempt at 5:2 and I stopped it last time because I felt myself rebelling against the fast days – overeating, picking etc

I’m back on 5:2 again, after a 3 month break. I’m into my 3rd week and we’ve had family staying over the weekend and a party and we then had a few days away in our motorhome by the sea (:)) but I found myself overeating and picking at cold meat and slices of cheese on top of my usual meals for the day. I’m wondering if I’m not suited to this kind of woe as I do have an issues with feeling deprived if I don’t get enough food or my choice of food and tend to rebel ( I know it’s against myself)

    Any help is welcome

    This is a tough one.

Maybe you’re being a bit hard on yourself though because this is like an anti-diet and the very point of it is to not feel deprived all of the time. If there is something that you really like then try and incorporate it into your non-fast days in small quantities then you can look forward to that instead of filling up on other things just for the sake of it.

Hope that helps a little, don’t give up whatever you do as it definitely gets easier and everyone has days where they struggle no matter how long they have been doing this.

I am right with you. I went on alternate day fasting to keep losing weight, but the non fasting day binges grew more intense.

I am actually a tad above the weight I want to be, but am working on the non fasting days.

I investigated Paul McKenna’s book Freedom from Emotional Eating (with CD and DVD) and an iPad app called “I Can Make You Thin.” I am working my way through both a second time. Fasting will be done once or twice a week (if at all), until I can manage the non fasting days. I do not wish to fast every other day for very long.

I have no issue fasting. I can control the eating.
